Cost efficient narrow linewidth laser transmitter for coherent detection [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Authors present a cost efficient narrow linewidth laser transmitter for future coherent detection systems. The spectral purity of the laser allows the phase modulation of data signals at bit rates as low as 155 Mb ...

Ring-Resonator Based Widely-Tunable Narrow-Linewidth Si/InP Integrated Lasers

open access: yesIEEE Journal of Selected Topics in Quantum Electronics, 2020
This paper presents recent results on widely-tunable narrow-linewidth semiconductor lasers using a ring-resonator based mirror as the extended cavity. Two generations of lasers on the heterogeneous Si/InP photonic platform are presented.

Intrinsic cascade-free intramode scattering Brillouin laser

open access: yesAPL Photonics, 2023
The cascade operation of Brillouin lasers (BLs) is an identified obstacle to single-frequency power scaling and further compression of the fundamental linewidth.

1.55 μm Narrow-Linewidth Pulsed Laser Based on MgO:PPLN

open access: yesPhotonics, 2023
A high-power narrow-linewidth 1.55 μm pulsed laser, based on MgO:PPLN OPO, has been achieved using a F–P etalon. The pump source is a 1064 nm acousto-optical (AO) Q-switched Nd:YAG laser with a repetition rate of 10 kHz.

Narrow laser-linewidth measurement using short delay self-heterodyne interferometry.

open access: yesOptics Express, 2022
Delayed self-heterodyne interferometry is a commonly used technique for the measurement of laser linewidth. It typically requires the use of a very long delay fiber when measuring narrow linewidth (especially linewidths in the kHz-range) lasers.

Narrow linewidth single laser source system for onboard atom interferometry [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
A compact and robust laser system for atom interferometry based on a frequency-doubled telecom laser is presented. Thanks to an original stabilization architecture on a saturated absorption setup, we obtain a frequency-agile laser system allowing fast ...

Theory of linewidth narrowing in Fano lasers

open access: yesPhysical Review Research, 2022
We present a general theory for the coherence of Fano lasers based on a bound state in the continuum. We find that such lasers enable orders of magnitude reduction of the quantum-limited linewidth, and by introducing mirror symmetry breaking, the linewidth can be further reduced.

A Narrow-Linewidth Linearly Polarized 1018-nm Fiber Source for Pumping Diamond Raman Laser

open access: yesFrontiers in Physics, 2021
A 7.8-GHz linewidth ytterbium-doped fiber (YDF) laser with an output power of 75 W at 1,018 nm is demonstrated based on narrow-bandwidth fiber Bragg gratings.
