Elexacaftor–Tezacaftor–Ivacaftor Reduces Revision Sinus Surgery in People With Cystic Fibrosis
Elexacaftor–tezacaftor–ivacaftor (ETI) was associated with a significant decrease in the frequency and rate of endoscopic sinus surgeries in patients with cystic fibrosis. These findings suggest an improvement in CF‐related chronic rhinosinusitis outcomes following ETI and may influence future CF treatment decisions.

Orbital Complications of Acute Rhinosinusitis in Adulthood: Predictors of Outcome and Management
In a multicenter cohort of 213 adults with orbital complications of acute rhinosinusitis, 68% required surgery and the modified Chandler classification was the strongest predictor of treatment modality. While abscess‐related and type II complications frequently necessitated surgical management, final ophthalmologic outcomes were uniformly favorable ...

HIV Infects Bronchial Epithelium and Suppresses Components of the Mucociliary Clearance Apparatus. [PDF]
Recurrent lung infections and pneumonia are emerging as significant comorbidities in the HIV-infected population in the era of combination antiretroviral therapy (cART). HIV infection has been reported to suppress nasal mucociliary clearance (MCC). Since

Correlation of nasal morphology to air-conditioning and clearance function [PDF]
Nasal morphology plays an important functional role in the maintenance of upper airway health. Identification of functional regions, based on morphological attributes, assists in correlating location to primary purpose.

Maxillary Sinus Papillary Edema as a Predictor of Odontogenic Sinusitis
Maxillary sinus papillary edema (MSPE) is a distinct finding that is reliably identifiable, and is significantly more likely in odontogenic sinusitis (ODS) compared to infectious chronic rhinosinusitis without nasal polyps and noninfectious chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyps.

The relationship between the nasal cycle and mucociliary clearance [PDF]
AbstractNasal airway resistances were measured bilaterally on subjects at 30‐minute intervals over 6 hours using anterior rhinomanometry. The first 10 subjects found to exhibit alternating congestion and decongestion of the nasal mucosa (i.e., the nasal cycle) were included in the study.

Lateral Mucosal Flap With Steroid‐Eluting Implant in Revision Draf Type III Frontal Sinus Surgery
This technical note introduces a novel endoscopic strategy that integrates a laterally based endonasal mucosal flap with a bioabsorbable steroid‐eluting implant to prevent restenosis following revision of Draf type III frontal sinus surgery. The vascularized flap is stabilized and maintained in close apposition to the underlying bone by a self ...
