Development of Paku Hata Craft Products in Citumang, West Java [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Lygodium flexuosum (L.) Sw. (Schizaeaceae) or paku hata is grown in West Java, especially in Citumang, Pangandaran Regency. The local community of Citumang use paku hata as the main materials to produce crafts such as bracelet, hat, bag, wall hanging ...

Acacetin reduces endoplasmic reticulum stress through the P‐eNOS/PERK signaling pathway to attenuate MGO‐induced vascular endothelial cell dysfunction

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We investigated a potential protective effect of acacetin, a naturally occurring flavonoid, against methylglyoxal (MGO)‐induced endothelial dysfunction in human umbilical vein endothelial cells and its mechanism of action. Acacetin can could inhibit MGO‐induced intracellular calcium ion influx, enhance the expression levels of phosphorylated ...

Red blood cells could protect miRNAs from degradation or loss thanks to Argonaute 2 binding

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The present work investigates the presence and the stability of miRNAs into RBCs, both native and engineered. The observed stability is due to the Ago2 bound resulting in minimal RISC. Indeed, if the miRNA‐Ago2 complex is present, miRNAs are protected from release or degradation and they are biologically active. Thus, RBCs can act as miRNA carriers for

NPGPT: Natural Product-Like Compound Generation with GPT-based Chemical Language Models [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
Natural products are substances produced by organisms in nature and often possess biological activity and structural diversity. Drug development based on natural products has been common for many years. However, the intricate structures of these compounds present challenges in terms of structure determination and synthesis, particularly compared to the

Alkane biosynthesis gene expression and its increased production in recombinant cyanobacteria

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The transcription and mRNA structures of the alkane biosynthesis genes ado/aar were analysed in the representative cyanobacteria PCC 6803 and SK1‐2‐1, which produce C17H36 and C15H32, respectively. PCC 6803 transconjugants carrying these genes showed a 1.8‐ to 2.3‐fold increase in C17H36 production.
