Characterization of the canine CLCN3 gene and evaluation as candidate for late-onset NCL

open access: yesBMC Genetics, 2006
Background The neuronal ceroid lipofuscinoses (NCL) are a heterogenous group of inherited progressive neurodegenerative diseases in different mammalian species. Tibetan Terrier and Polish Owczarek Nizinny (PON) dogs show rare late-onset NCL variants with

Introduction to the constraint language NCL

open access: yesThe Journal of Logic Programming, 2000
The design, implementation and application of a natural constraint language NCLare presented. At the solver level, to support the solving of a large scope of combinatorial problems, a rich set of conventional constraints is defined within a constraint framework that strongly combines Boolean logic, integer constraints and set reasoning over finite ...

No Significant Secondary Structural Change of α‐Synuclein Monomer by Site‐Specific DOPA or Phosphorylation Introduction in Its C‐Terminal Region

open access: yesJournal of Peptide Science, Volume 32, Issue 9, September 2026.
Site‐specifically modified α‐synuclein containing DOPA or phosphorylation was prepared by ligation of a bacterially expressed N‐terminal polypeptide and a synthetic C‐terminal modified peptide. ABSTRACT α‐Synuclein (αSyn) is a major component of pathogenic Lewy bodies and Lewy neurites and is closely associated with Parkinson's disease.

Priming with interleukin‐1α and chemical hypoxia modulates the mesenchymal stem cell secretome to dampen microglial inflammation and promote neuroprotection

open access: yesBritish Journal of Pharmacology, Volume 183, Issue 17, Page 5355-5371, September 2026.
Abstract Background and Purpose We hypothesised that dual priming of human bone marrow‐derived human mesenchymal stem cells (hBMSCs) with interleukin‐1alpha (IL‐1α) and CoCl2 (a hypoxia mimetic) would modulate their therapeutic efficacy for hypoxic‐ischaemic conditions. Experimental Approach hBMSCs were primed individually or in combination.

Neural modulation of ocular immunity: Exploring a sympathetic‐macrophage neuroimmune link in the human ciliary body

open access: yesJournal of Anatomy, Volume 249, Issue 3, Page 565-577, September 2026.
Using microscopy and 3D confocal imaging on seven cadaveric eyes, we identified sympathetic nerves closely associated with β₂‐adrenergic receptor‐expressing macrophages in the human ciliary body (CB). These findings suggest a sympathetic‐macrophage neuroimmune link in the CB, potentially influencing ocular inflammation and degeneration, warranting ...

Modification of the Transcription Factor FOXL2 at Serines 101 and 107 Disables DNA Binding, Leads to Nucleolar Relocalization, and Rewires Granulosa‐Cell Programs

open access: yesThe FASEB Journal, Volume 40, Issue 15, 15 August 2026.
PKC‐mediated phosphorylation of FOXL2 weakens DNA binding, alters subnuclear localization and protein interactions, and reshapes FOXL2‐dependent transcriptional programs in granulosa cells, supporting a reversible mechanism that modulates FOXL2 activity through phosphorylation of its DNA‐binding domain. ABSTRACT FOXL2 is a forkhead transcription factor

Synthesis of β‐Thiolated Amino Acids: Investigation Toward the Total Chemical Synthesis of Lasso Peptide Microcin J25

open access: yesChemBioChem, Volume 27, Issue 15, 14 August 2026.
Lasso peptide, Microcin J25 (MccJ25), exhibits extreme stability and potent antibacterial activity against Gram‐negative bacteria due to its rigid “lariat” structure. However, this unique topology precludes researchers to achieve the total chemical synthesis. Herein, we investigated the chemical synthetic prestapling strategy toward synthesis of MccJ25

Synthetic Strategies for Activity‐Based Probes to Decode Ubiquitin‐Like Modifiers

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, Volume 32, Issue 30, 13 August 2026.
ABSTRACT Ubiquitin‐like proteins (Ubls) such as SUMO, NEDD8, ISG15, URM1, UFM1, FAT10, ATG8/ATG12, and FUBI are essential regulators of cellular homeostasis, controlling processes from protein stability and trafficking to immune signaling and autophagy.

Post‐Translational Isoaspartate Promotes Amyloid Formation in β2‐Microglobulin

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, Volume 138, Issue 30, 20 July 2026.
Chemical synthesis of five β2‐microglobulin (β2m) variants reveals the structural impact of Asn deamidation. By introducing Asp or isoAsp at susceptible Asn‐Gly sequences, we demonstrate that isoAsp17 formation specifically accelerates amyloid fibril formation, highlighting its potential contribution to dialysis‐related amyloidosis.
