Effects of Off‐Fault Inelasticity on Near‐Fault Directivity Pulses

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Solid Earth, 2019
AbstractNear‐fault motion is often dominated by long‐period, pulse‐like particle velocities with fault‐normal polarization that, when enhanced by directivity, may strongly excite middle‐ to high‐rise structures. We assess the extent to which plastic yielding may affect amplitude, frequency content, and distance scaling of near‐fault directivity pulses.

LDAcoop: Integrating non‐linear population dynamics into the analysis of clonogenic growth in vitro

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Limiting dilution assays (LDAs) quantify clonogenic growth by seeding serial dilutions of cells and scoring wells for colony formation. The fraction of negative wells is plotted against cells seeded and analyzed using the non‐linear modeling of LDAcoop.

Seismological analyses of the 2010 March 11, Pichilemu, Chile M_w 7.0 and M_w 6.9 coastal intraplate earthquakes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
On 2010 March 11, a sequence of large, shallow continental crust earthquakes shook central Chile. Two normal faulting events with magnitudes around M_w 7.0 and M_w 6.9 occurred just 15 min apart, located near the town of Pichilemu.

Time-frequency representation of earthquake accelerograms and inelastic structural response records using the adaptive chirplet decomposition and empirical mode decomposition [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
In this paper, the adaptive chirplet decomposition combined with the Wigner-Ville transform and the empirical mode decomposition combined with the Hilbert transform are employed to process various non-stationary signals (strong ground motions and ...

Therapeutic strategies for MMAE‐resistant bladder cancer through DPP4 inhibition

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We established monomethyl auristatin E (MMAE)‐resistant bladder cancer (BC) cell lines by exposure to progressively increasing concentrations of MMAE in vitro. RNA sequencing showed DPP4 expression was increased in MMAE‐resistant BC cells. Both si‐DPP4 and the DPP4 inhibitor sitagliptin suppressed the viability of MMAE‐resistant BC cells.

Infrared laser sampling of low volumes combined with shotgun lipidomics reveals lipid markers in palatine tonsil carcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Nanosecond infrared laser (NIRL) low‐volume sampling combined with shotgun lipidomics uncovers distinct lipidome alterations in oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma (OPSCC) of the palatine tonsil. Several lipid species consistently differentiate tumor from healthy tissue, highlighting their potential as diagnostic markers.

Investigating Active Deformation in the Northern Longitudinal Valley and City of Hualien in Eastern Taiwan Using Persistent Scatterer and Small-Baseline SAR Interferometry

open access: yesTerrestrial, Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences, 2011
Rapid convergence between the Eurasian plate and the Philippine Sea plate in the northern Longitudinal Valley near the city of Hualien in eastern Taiwan has produced prominent fault scarps and large earthquakes (M ¡_ 7).

Geodetic Observations of Weak Determinism in Rupture Evolution of Large Earthquakes. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
The moment evolution of large earthquakes is a subject of fundamental interest to both basic and applied seismology. Specifically, an open problem is when in the rupture process a large earthquake exhibits features dissimilar from those of a lesser ...
