Sepsis and Antibiotics in Extremely Preterm Infants: Early Empirical Treatment Was Common, While Late‐Onset Sepsis Accounted for Most Cases and Antibiotic Use

open access: yesActa Paediatrica, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Aim The aim was to investigate the incidence of sepsis and use of antibiotics among extremely preterm infants, given the limited number of population‐based studies examining this. Methods This retrospective study in Eastern Denmark included all liveborn infants from 23 + 0 weeks/days to 27 + 6 weeks/days of gestation from 2019 to 21.

AOSNP‐ADAPTR resource level‐based recommendations on practical diagnostic strategies for ependymomas

open access: yesBrain Pathology, EarlyView.
Adapting Diagnostic Approaches for Practical Taxonomy in Resource‐Restrained Regions (ADAPTR) recommendations for ependymomas in resource‐restrained settings (RL = resource level; created in BioRender). Abstract Ependymomas are uncommon primary tumors of the central nervous system (CNS) that affect both children and adults.

Afatinib Versus Osimertinib for Non‐Small Cell Lung Cancer With Uncommon EGFR Mutations: Real‐World Outcomes

open access: yesCancer Science, EarlyView.
Afatinib and osimertinib showed broadly comparable survival outcomes as first‐line therapy for NSCLC with uncommon EGFR mutations. Treatment may be individualized by mutation subtype, while adding immune checkpoint inhibition to platinum doublet after EGFR‐TKI showed no clear benefit.

What Are Computer‐Assisted Methods Achieving in Fine‐Needle Aspiration Cytology of the Pancreas? A Systematic Review and Meta‐Analysis

open access: yesCytopathology, EarlyView.
This meta‐analysis demonstrates high diagnostic accuracy of computer‐assisted methods in pancreatic EUS‐FNA cytology (AUC 0.92–0.96) and supports an integrated, cytopathologist‐led workflow in which artificial intelligence functions as an adjunct to diagnostic interpretation and on‐site evaluation (ROSE).
