EFFECT OF NIFEDIPINE ON APOPTOSIS, NECROSIS AND VIABILITY OF GERMINAL EPITHELIAL CELLS IN THE CONTRALATERAL TESTICLE AND PLASMA TESTOSTERONE LEVELS IN MALE WHITE RATS (RATTUS NORVEGICUS, WISTAR STRAIN) AFTER UNILATERAL TESTICULAR TORSION

open access: yesJurnal Urologi Indonesia, 2019
Objective: To compare the number of apoptosis, necrosis and viability of germinal epithelial cells in the contralateral testicle (CT) and plasma testosterone (PT) levels in white male rats which administered Nifedipine after unilateral testicular torsion

From energy provision to protein synthesis: Tunnelling nanotubes as mediators of intercellular metabolic cooperation in cancer

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The cytoskeleton‐mediated transport of mitochondria via tunnelling nanotubes restores respiration, increases ATP production, rescues cells from apoptosis, activates the AKT/mTOR signalling pathway, promotes cell migration and invasiveness, contributes to cancer progression and treatment resistance.

Sustain, Adapt, and Overcome—Hypoxia Associated Changes in the Progression of Lymphatic Neoplasia

open access: yesFrontiers in Oncology, 2019
Irregular perfusion and related tissue hypoxia is a common feature of solid tumors the role of which in the survival and progression cancer has been gradually recognized.

Risk Prediction Models for Recurrence After Curative Treatment of Early‐Stage or Locally Advanced Lung Cancer: A Systematic Review

open access: yesAging and Cancer, EarlyView.
This systematic review synthesizes prognostic models for survival and recurrence in resected non‐small cell lung cancer. While many models demonstrate moderate to good discrimination, few are externally validated and reporting quality is variable, limiting clinical applicability and highlighting the need for robust, transparent model development ...

Super‐Refractory Status Epilepticus (SRSE) in a Patient With Compound Heterozygous OPA1 Variants: Case Report and Literature Review

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Super‐Refractory Status Epilepticus (SRSE) is a rare, life‐threatening neurological emergency with unclear etiology in many cases. Mitochondrial dysfunction, often due to disease‐causing genetic variants, is increasingly recognized as a cause, with each gene producing distinct pathophysiological mechanisms.

Evaluating SnapshotNIR for Tissue Oxygenation Measurement Across Skin Types After Mastectomy

open access: yesBioengineering
Accurate monitoring of mastectomy skin flap (MSF) perfusion is critical, especially in patients with darker skin pigmentation at higher risk of misdiagnosed tissue ischemia.

Necrosis and Infection

open access: yes, 2014
Skin infection leading to cutaneous necrosis is a rare condition. The presence of an immunosuppressant state or an impaired vascular network is a risk factor associated with infection spreading and skin necrosis.

Air Pollution and the Risk and Progression of Multiple Sclerosis: A Systematic Review and Meta‐Analysis

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Purpose Air pollution has been linked to several neurological conditions, including stroke and neurodegenerative diseases. Evidence regarding its association with multiple sclerosis (MS) remains conflicting, limited by small sample sizes. Methods PubMed, Embase, Scopus, and Cochrane controlled register of trials (CENTRAL) were searched on ...

A Systematic Review and Meta‐Analysis of the Recurrence of Autoimmune Encephalitis

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Autoimmune encephalitis (AE) is a disease with a potential for recurrence, and patients receive immunotherapy to prevent it. However, there is no consensus on the duration of immunotherapy. This study aimed to determine the recurrence rate and identify the risk factors for AE to provide guidance on the duration of immunotherapy ...

ALDOA Promotes Glycolysis and NLRP3/GSDMD Pyroptosis to Accelerate ALS Progression

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is characterized by progressive motor neuron degeneration. Glycolytic dysregulation is implicated in disease progression, yet the underlying mechanisms remain unclear. This study investigates how Aldolase A (ALDOA) drives ALS progression through glycolysis‐mediated motor neuron pyroptosis.
