Feasibility of a ctDNA multigenic panel for non‐small‐cell lung cancer early detection and disease surveillance

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Plasma‐based detection of actionable mutations is a promising approach in lung cancer management. Analysis of ctDNA with a multigene NGS panel identified TP53, KRAS, and EGFR as the most frequently altered, with TP53 and KRAS in treatment‐naïve patients and TP53 and EGFR in previously treated patients.

Analysis and optimization of cesium dynamics for the HUST negative ion source

open access: yesNuclear Engineering and Technology
The high-density beam in the NBI negative ion source relies on surface production on the converter with low work function, which is facilitated by cesium injection.

Negative ion research at the Culham Centre for Fusion Energy (CCFE)

open access: yesNew Journal of Physics, 2016
A summary of negative ion development work being presently undertaken at the Culham Centre for Fusion Energy is given. The small negative ion facility has an RF driven volume ion source with beam extraction at energies up to 30 keV. The extracted beam of

Negative ion source development for a photoneutralization based neutral beam system for future fusion reactors

open access: yes, 2016
In parallel to the developments dedicated to the ITER neutral beam (NB) system, CEA-IRFM with laboratories in France and Switzerland are studying the feasibility of a new generation of NB system able to provide heating and current drive for the future ...

CDK11 inhibition induces cytoplasmic p21WAF1 splice variant by p53 stabilisation and SF3B1 inactivation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
CDK11 inhibition stabilises the tumour suppressor p53 and triggers the production of an alternative p21WAF1 splice variant p21L, through the inactivation of the spliceosomal protein SF3B1. Unlike the canonical p21WAF1 protein, p21L is localised in the cytoplasm and has reduced cell cycle‐blocking activity.

Helicon wave-generated plasmas for negative ion beams for fusion

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences, 2017
In the next generation of fusion reactors, such as DEMO, neutral beam injectors (NBIs) of high energy (0.8-1 MeV) deuterium atoms with high wall-plug efficiency (>50%) will be required to reach burning plasma conditions and to provide a significant ...

Dual targeting of RET and SRC synergizes in RET fusion‐positive cancer cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Despite the strong activity of selective RET tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs), resistance of RET fusion‐positive (RET+) lung cancer and thyroid cancer frequently occurs and is mainly driven by RET‐independent bypass mechanisms. Son et al. show that SRC TKIs significantly inhibit PAK and AKT survival signaling and enhance the efficacy of RET TKIs in ...

ITER-relevant 600 s steady-state extraction of negative hydrogen ions at the test facility ELISE

open access: yesNuclear Fusion
The neutral beam heating system for the future international fusion experiment ITER will be based on radio-frequency driven ion sources delivering a large (≈1 × 2 m ^2 ) and homogeneous negative hydrogen or deuterium ion beam of several ten Amperes for ...

Hard photon flow and photon-photon correlation in intermediate energy heavy-ion collisions

open access: yes, 2012
Hard photons emitted from energetic heavy ion collisions are very interesting since they do not experience nuclear interaction, and therefore they are useful to explore properties of nuclear matter.

Start of SPIDER operation towards ITER neutral beams [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Heating Neutral Beam (HNB) Injectors will constitute the main plasma heating and current drive tool both in ITER and JT60-SA, which are the next major experimental steps for demonstrating nuclear fusion as viable energy source.
