Negative-continuum dielectronic recombination into excited states of highly-charged ions

open access: yes, 2009
The recombination of a free electron into a bound state of bare, heavy nucleus under simultaneous production of bound-electron--free-positron pair is studied within the framework of relativistic first--order perturbation theory. This process, denoted as "

Potential therapeutic targeting of BKCa channels in glioblastoma treatment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review summarizes current insights into the role of BKCa and mitoBKCa channels in glioblastoma biology, their potential classification as oncochannels, and the emerging pharmacological strategies targeting these channels, emphasizing the translational challenges in developing BKCa‐directed therapies for glioblastoma treatment.

Threshold detachment of negative ions by electron impact

open access: yes, 1998
The description of threshold fragmentation under long range repulsive forces is presented. The dominant energy dependence near threshold is isolated by decomposing the cross section into a product of a back ground part and a barrier penetration ...

Monitoring of circulating tumor DNA allows early detection of disease relapse in patients with operable breast cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Monitoring circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) in patients with operable breast cancer can reveal disease relapse earlier than radiology in a subset of patients. The failure to detect ctDNA in some patients with recurrent disease suggests that ctDNA could serve as a supplement to other monitoring approaches.

Cell surface interactome analysis identifies TSPAN4 as a negative regulator of PD‐L1 in melanoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Using cell surface proximity biotinylation, we identified tetraspanin TSPAN4 within the PD‐L1 interactome of melanoma cells. TSPAN4 negatively regulates PD‐L1 expression and lateral mobility by limiting its interaction with CMTM6 and promoting PD‐L1 degradation.

Many-body theory calculations of positron binding to negative ions [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
A many-body theory approach developed by the authors [Phys. Rev. A 70, 032720 (2004)] is applied to positron bound states and annihilation rates in atomic systems.

The effect of the charge pattern on the applicability of a nanopore as a sensor [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
We investigate a model nanopore sensor that is able to detect analyte ions that are present in the electrolyte solution in very small concentrations. The nanopore selectively binds the analyte ions with which the local concentrations of the ions of the ...

LDAcoop: Integrating non‐linear population dynamics into the analysis of clonogenic growth in vitro

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Limiting dilution assays (LDAs) quantify clonogenic growth by seeding serial dilutions of cells and scoring wells for colony formation. The fraction of negative wells is plotted against cells seeded and analyzed using the non‐linear modeling of LDAcoop.

Ionic diffusion into the peripheral area of a glow discharge in the electronegative gases

open access: yesSt. Petersburg Polytechnical University Journal: Physics and Mathematics
In the paper, the effect of negative ion diffusive penetration from the central space representing the ion-ion plasma on the electron-ion plasma located in the peripheral area of a positive column of a glow discharge in the strong electronegative gases ...

Sterilization Effect and Mechanism of Negative Ions in Refrigerator [PDF]

open access: yesShipin Kexue
In this study, Staphylococcus, Candida and Penicillium that had been isolated and purified from commercial salmon, chicken breast and citrus in our laboratory were used as target microorganisms to explore the sterilization effect and mechanism of ...
