Collision-induced dissociations of negative ions. α-Dicarbonyl parent negative ions
α-Dicarbonyl compounds form stable parent negative ions by capture of low-energy electrons. The parent negative ions undergo a variety of collision induced dissociations, the most characteristic being β cleavage to a carbonyl group, i.e.

Interpreting the effects of DNA polymerase variants at the structural level
Using MAVISp and molecular dynamics simulations, we analyzed over 60 000 missense variants in POLE and POLD1 from ClinVar, COSMIC, cBioPortal, and saturation mutagenesis. Identified mechanistic indicators, including stability, binding, and long‐range, enable structural interpretation, providing ACMG‐like evidence for possible reclassification of VUS ...

Loss of IGF‐1R impairs DNA‐PKcs recruitment to chromatin leading to defective end‐joining
IGF‐1R promotes radioresistance by facilitating DNA‐PKcs recruitment to chromatin, enabling non‐homologous end‐joining (NHEJ) repair of double‐strand breaks. Inhibition or loss of IGF‐1R disrupts this recruitment to damage sites, driving compensatory reliance on microhomology‐mediated end‐joining (MMEJ) repair.

In order to understand the physics mechanism of a negative ion extraction in negative ion sources, an emission surface of the negative ions around an aperture at a plasma grid, so-called a meniscus, has been analyzed by an inverse calculation of the ...

Laser Photodetachment of Negative Ions - Fundamental Research and Applications
Photodetachment studies of atomic and molecular negative ions in the gas phase are presented. Negative ions are loosely bound quantum systems whose existence is strongly dependent on the correlations between the electrons.

Piezoelectric air ionizer with smooth performance control
The problem of creating piezoelectric air ionizers with smooth performance control is considered. A method of smooth regulation of negative ion output is proposed, which is based on discretization of the ionization process.

Effect of Coulomb collision on the negative ion extraction mechanism in negative ion sources
To improve the H− ion beam optics, it is necessary to understand the energy relaxation process of surface produced H− ions in the extraction region of Cs seeded H− ion sources. Coulomb collisions of charged particles have been introduced to the 2D3V-PIC (two dimension in real space and three dimension in velocity space particle-in-cell) model for the H−

Finding novel vulnerabilities of hypomorphic BRCA1 alleles
Synthetic lethality screens performed to identify novel vulnerabilities often model complete gene loss, thereby overlooking patient‐derived hypomorphic mutations. In this study, we have performed genome‐wide CRISPR screens on BRCA1 hypomorphic mutations, showing BRCA1I26A behaves like wild‐type, while BRCA1R1699Q mimics deficiency. Furthermore, we have

Negative ions in the Enceladus plume
During Cassini’s Enceladus encounter on 12th March 2008, the Cassini Electron Spectrometer, part of the CAPS instrument, detected fluxes of negative ions in the plumes from Enceladus.

Towards improving spatial and energy resolution in gaseous detectors with negative ion drift [PDF]
Negative ion drift is a technique to minimise diffusion in gaseous detectors by drifting negative ions in lieu of electrons. Electronegative gases are typically used as a method to form negative ions.
