NUMERICAL NEGATIVE SELECTION ALGORITHM

International Journal on Artificial Intelligence Tools, 2010
The artificial immune algorithm is the hot topic in much research such as the intrusion detection system, the information retrieval system and the data mining system. The negative selection algorithm is the typical artificial immune algorithm. A common representation of binary strings for antibody (detector) and antigen have been associated with ...

Negative selection in negative correlation learning

2016 12th International Conference on Natural Computation, Fuzzy Systems and Knowledge Discovery (ICNC-FSKD), 2016
Negative correlation learning is an ensemble learning approach that is able to create negatively correlated learners simultaneously and cooperatively in a committee machine. One problem in negative correlation learning is that the learning error functions are defined in the same way for all individual learners.

TRAIL, Bim, and Thymic-Negative Selection

Immunologic Research, 2003
Negative selection is a process whereby autoreactive lymphocytes are deleted through apoptosis. Negative selection is essential for self-tolerance and its breakdown may lead to the development of autoimmune diseases. Although the phenomenon of negative selection is well-recognized, its underlying molecular mechanisms are unclear.

FTOC-Based Analysis of Negative Selection

2016
Potentially harmful T cell precursors are removed from the conventional T cell pool by negative selection. This process can involve the induction of apoptosis, anergy, receptor editing or deviation into a regulatory T cell lineage. As such this process is essential for the health of an organism through its contribution to central and peripheral ...

Selective IgA Deficiency in Rh‐Negative Women

Vox Sanguinis, 1974
Abstract. Sera obtained from 15,500 Rh‐negative pregnant women were screened for presence of serum IgA. 12 out of 15,500 or 0.08% of the women were deficient in serum IgA, and only one of these 12 women had anti‐IgA antibody of broad specificity. Nine women with IgA deficiency received anti‐Rho γ‐globulin within 72 h after delivery.

Positive and negative selection in Basel

Nature Immunology, 2008
Harald von Boehmer describes how he used mice transgenic for T cell receptor αβ to identify T cell receptor–dependent cellular selection and lineage commitment as mechanisms responsible for generating an effective and self-tolerant adaptive immune system.

The negative view of natural selection

Studies in History and Philosophy of Science Part C: Studies in History and Philosophy of Biological and Biomedical Sciences, 2012
An influential argument due to Elliott Sober, subsequently strengthened by Denis Walsh and Joel Pust, moves from plausible premises to the bold conclusion that natural selection cannot explain the traits of individual organisms. If the argument were sound, the explanatory scope of selection would depend, surprisingly, on metaphysical considerations ...

Negative selection, epitope mimicry and autoimmunity

Current Opinion in Immunology, 2017
Infections often precede the onset of autoimmune disease and molecular (or epitope) mimicry is a plausible link. Cross-reacting epitopes are common between an infecting microorganism and the host because negative selection of self-reactive T-cells and B-cells is frequently incomplete.

Cholinergic regulation of thymocyte negative selection

Nature Immunology
The immune and nervous systems use a common chemical language for communication, namely, the cholinergic signaling involving acetylcholine (ACh) and its receptors (AChRs). Whether and how this language also regulates the development of the immune system is poorly understood.

Select Gram-negative Aerobic Bacteria

2012
Gram-negative bacteria may be rod-shaped (bacilli), spherical (cocci), oval, helical, or filamentous. Cytoplasmic membrane is surrounded by a cell wall consisting of a peptidoglycan layer and an outer cell membrane. Gram-negative bacteria are widely distributed in the natural environment.
