The planar cell polarity protein Vangl2 interacts with the PDZ‐domains of Scribble but not with a unique PDZ‐like domain in Inturned

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Structural and biochemical characterisations show that the planar cell polarity (PCP) protein Inturned harbours a unique PDZ‐like domain that does not bind canonical PDZ‐binding motifs (PBMs) like that of another PCP protein Vangl2. In contrast, the apical‐basal polarity protein Scribble contains four PDZ domains that bind Vangl2, but one PDZ domain ...

An isoform of 14‐3‐3 protein regulates transbilayer lipid movement at the plasma membrane

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Loss of 14‐3‐3ζ in CHO cells confers resistance to exogenous phosphatidylserine (PS) and impairs endocytosis‐independent inward flip‐flop of fluorescent PS at the plasma membrane. RNAi‐mediated knockdown reproduces this defect, while no additive effect is seen in ATP11C‐deficient cells.

The ubiquitin ligase RNF115 is required for the clearance of damaged lysosomes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Upon lysosomal rupture, an E3 ubiquitin ligase RNF115 translocates from the cytosol to the damaged lysosomal membrane. Moreover, RNF115 depletion impairs the clearance of damaged lysosomes, identifying it as a key regulator of lysosomal quality control.

Negative Avoiding Sequences

open access: yes
Negative avoiding sequences of span $n$ are periodic sequences of elements from $\mathbb{Z}_k$ for some $k$ with the property that no $n$-tuple occurs more than once in a period and if an $n$-tuple does occur then its negative does not. They are a special type of cut-down de Bruijn sequence with potential position-location applications.

pH‐mediated activation of the lysosomal arginine sensor SLC38A9

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Cells monitor nutrient levels via the lysosomal transporter SLC38A9 to activate the mechanistic target of rapamycin complex 1 (mTORC1). This study reveals that SLC38A9 function is regulated by pH. We identified histidine 544 as a critical pH sensor that undergoes conformational changes to control amino acid efflux from lysosomes; therefore, it ...

Microprocessor-based negative-sequence relay

open access: yesInternational Journal of Electrical Power & Energy Systems, 1986
Abstract A three-phase power system can be subjected to various types of faults. Symmetrical components furnish a tool which is well suited for analysing such faults. This paper describes a microprocessor-based system which calculates the symmetrical components from the sampled data of the three phase quantities in real time. The computed symmetrical

The human gut microbiome across the life course

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Despite significant individual variation and continuous change throughout life, the human gut microbiome follows some life stage‐specific trends. This article provides a brief overview of how gut microbiome composition shifts across different phases of life. Created in BioRender. Özkurt, E. (2026) https://BioRender.com/8q4nrnc.

Combinatorial events of insertion sequences and ICE in Gram-negative bacteria [PDF]

open access: yesFEMS Microbiology Reviews, 2011
The emergence of antibiotic and antimicrobial resistance in Gram-negative bacteria is incremental and linked to genetic elements that function in a so-called 'one-ended transposition' manner, including ISEcp1, ISCR elements and Tn3-like transposons. The power of these elements lies in their inability to consistently recognize one of their own terminal ...

Influence of High-speed Railway to Power Quality and its Governance Measures

open access: yesKongzhi Yu Xinxi Jishu, 2010
The principles of traction power supply and the load characteristics are described briefly for high-speed railway. The power quality problems such as negative sequence and harmonic on the power supply system caused by high-speed railway are analyzed ...

A Negative Sequence Impedance Design and Regulation Strategy for Negative Sequence Current Sharing Among Grid-Forming Sources in Microgrids Considering Topology Impacts

open access: yesIEEE Open Journal of Power Electronics
The accurate control of negative sequence (NS) current distribution among multiple grid-forming (GFM) sources can lower the requirement on NS current capability of the sources.
