Identification of a Shiga toxin A‐derived peptide internalized into Gb3 receptor‐bearing cells via interaction with the Shiga toxin B subunit

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The process of internalization of the Shiga toxin A subunit via formation of a complex with the Shiga toxin B subunit, which specifically binds to the Gb3 receptor. The peptide is designed to act as a carrier of drugs into cancer cells. Here, we explored the potential of peptides derived from the catalytic A subunit of Shiga toxin (STxA) to be drug ...

Development of a neurophysiological sensory gating model in the rat to aid in the preclinical identification of possible treatments of sensory flooding in schizophrenia [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Objective: It has been widely hypothesized that a failure to properly filter, or ‘gate’, incoming auditory information occurs in schizophrenic patients. This can be observed in a reduced event-related potential response to the second of a pair of clicks,

The role of miR‐335‐5p in the redifferentiation of BRAF p.V600E thyroid cancers

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The BRAF p.V600E mutation promotes thyroid cancer dedifferentiation and radioiodine resistance. Using a network approach, we identified miR‐335‐5p as a key regulator of BRAF‐mutated thyroid tumors. Restoring miR‐335‐5p increased thyroid‐specific gene expression and iodine uptake in cells and organoids.

Attention effect on Mismatch Negativity of auditory and visual event-related brain potentials [PDF]

open access: yes, 2000
A modified oddball paradigm was designed to improve attentional focus and to minimize target effects on ERP deviance-related components in long interstimulus intervals.

Figures of Negativity in Julia Kristeva from “Poetry and Negativity” to Black Sun [PDF]

open access: yes
This paper traces the role negativity played in Kristeva’s writings from the 1960s to the 1980s, i.e. from early texts such as “Poetry and Negativity” through Revolution in Poetic Language and Polylogue to Powers of Horror and Black Sun. On the one hand,

TRAIL‐PEG‐Apt‐PLGA nanosystem as an aptamer‐targeted drug delivery system potential for triple‐negative breast cancer therapy using in vivo mouse model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aptamers are used both therapeutically and as targeting agents in cancer treatment. We developed an aptamer‐targeted PLGA–TRAIL nanosystem that exhibited superior therapeutic efficacy in NOD/SCID breast cancer models. This nanosystem represents a novel biotechnological drug candidate for suppressing resistance development in breast cancer.

Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...

A modified oddball paradigm "cross-modal delayed response" and the research on mismatch negativity [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
A modified oddball paradigm was developed to facilitate the focus of attention and to minimize target effects on deviant-related components of auditory and visual event-related potentials (ERPs) elicited with long interstimulus intervals.
