Matroidal structure of generalized rough sets based on symmetric and transitive relations [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Rough sets are efficient for data pre-process in data mining. Lower and upper approximations are two core concepts of rough sets. This paper studies generalized rough sets based on symmetric and transitive relations from the operator-oriented view by ...

Exact Results for Amplitude Spectra of Fitness Landscapes

open access: yes, 2013
Starting from fitness correlation functions, we calculate exact expressions for the amplitude spectra of fitness landscapes as defined by P.F. Stadler [J. Math. Chem.

RNA Sequencing Resolves Cryptic Pathogenic Variants in Mitochondrial Disease

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Mitochondrial diseases are the most common inherited metabolic disorders, characterized by pronounced clinical and genetic heterogeneity that complicates molecular diagnosis. Although DNA‐based sequencing approaches have become standard in genetic testing, up to half of patients remain without a definitive diagnosis.

Hybrid Multilabel Feature Selection Using BPSO and Neighborhood Rough Sets for Multilabel Neighborhood Decision Systems

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2019
Recently, feature selection for multilabel classification has attracted substantial attention in many fields; however, some of the available methods ignore the correlations among labels and yield low classification performance.

A Unified Granular-ball Learning Model of Pawlak Rough Set and Neighborhood Rough Set

open access: yes, 2022
Pawlak rough set and neighborhood rough set are the two most common rough set theoretical models. Pawlak can use equivalence classes to represent knowledge, but it cannot process continuous data; neighborhood rough sets can process continuous data, but it loses the ability of using equivalence classes to represent knowledge.

Revisiting Stability Criteria in Ball‐Milled High‐Entropy Alloys: Do Hume–Rothery and Thermodynamic Rules Equally Apply?

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, Volume 27, Issue 6, March 2025.
The stability criteria affecting the formation of high‐entropy alloys, particularly focusing in supersaturated solid solutions produced by mechanical alloying, are analyzed. Criteria based on Hume–Rothery rules are distinguished from those derived from thermodynamic relations. The formers are generally applicable to mechanically alloyed samples.

Neighborhood Granule Classifiers

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2018
Classifiers are divided into linear and nonlinear classifiers. The linear classifiers are built on a basis of some hyper planes. The nonlinear classifiers are mainly neural networks. In this paper, we propose a novel neighborhood granule classifier based

Knowledge Engineering from Data Perspective: Granular Computing Approach [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
The concept of rough set theory is a mathematical approach to uncertainly and vagueness in data analysis, introduced by Zdzislaw Pawlak in 1980s. Rough set theory assumes the underlying structure of knowledge is a partition.

Granular association rules for multi-valued data

open access: yes, 2013
Granular association rule is a new approach to reveal patterns hide in many-to-many relationships of relational databases. Different types of data such as nominal, numeric and multi-valued ones should be dealt with in the process of rule mining.
