Nematicidal Activity of some Sri Lankan Plants

Natural Product Research, 2003
Nineteen solvent extracts from seven Sri Lankan plants were examined for nematicidal activity against the root knot nematode Meloidogyne incognita. Extracts of Allophyhu cobbe, Lepisanthes tetraphylla (Sapindaceae), Sarcococca zeylanica (Buxaceae) and Hedyotis lawsoniae (Rubiaceae) have shown significant nematicidal activity.

Nematicidal activity of Paecilomyces spp. and isolation of a novel active compound

The Journal of Microbiology, 2009
Many species of Paecilomyces are entomogenous fungi and several are efficacious toward nematodes. To study the potential of Paecilomyces species in controlling nematodes, fungal extracts of 40 Paecilomyces spp. were evaluated for their nematicidal activity against Bursaphelenchus xylophilus and Panagrellus redivivus.

Nematicidal activity of dimethyl 1-dodecanephosphonate

Experientia, 1983
Dimethyl 1-dodecanephosphonate has been shown in laboratory bioassays and greenhouse tests to be highly active against 2 species of nematodes. Other phosphonate esters showed little or no activity.

Potent Nematicidal Activity of Maleimide Derivatives on Meloidogyne incognita

Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry, 2016
Different maleimide derivatives were synthesized and assayed for their in vitro activity on the soil inhabiting, plant-parasitic nematode Meloidogyne incognita, also known as root-knot nematode. The compounds maleimide, N-ethylmaleimide, N-isopropylmaleimide, and N-isobutylmaleimide showed the strongest nematicidal activity on the second stage ...

Nematicidal activity of Trichoderma spp. and isolation of an active compound

World Journal of Microbiology and Biotechnology, 2010
Trichoderma spp. play an important role in biotic control, and several are efficacious against nematodes. To study the potential of Trichoderma species in controlling nematodes, fungal filtrates of 329 Trichoderma strains were evaluated for their nematicidal activity against Panagrellus redivivus and Caenorhabditis elegans.

Improvement of chitinase Pachi with nematicidal activities by random mutagenesis

International Journal of Biological Macromolecules, 2017
Chitinase, an enzyme that can degrade the main compositions of insect intestine and cuticle, has been used in the bio-control field. Our previous work has reported the chitinase Pachi with nematicidal activity (Caenorhabditis elegans). In the present study, to improve the chitinolytic and nematicidal activities of Pachi, a random mutant library was ...

Chemical Constituents of Cordia latifolia and Their Nematicidal Activity

Chemistry & Biodiversity, 2011
AbstractFollowing nematicidal activity‐guided isolation studies on the fruits, bark, and leaves of Cordia latifolia, two new constituents, cordinoic acid (=11‐oxours‐12‐ene‐23,28‐dioic acid; 1) and cordicilin (=2‐{[(E)‐3‐(3,4‐dihydroxyphenyl)prop‐2‐enoyl]oxy}‐3‐[4‐hydroxy‐3‐(stearoyloxy)phenyl]propanoic acid; 2) were isolated from the stem and leaves ...

Antibacterial, Antifungal and Nematicidal Activities of Rare Earth Ions

Biological Trace Element Research, 2016
Despite the name, rare earth elements are relatively abundant in soil. Therefore, these elements might interact with biosphere during the history of life. In this study, we have examined the effect of rare earth ions on the growth of bacteria, fungi and soil nematode.

Nematicidal activity of Trigonella foenum‐ graecum L.

Phytotherapy Research, 2001
AbstractThe aqueous, methanol and chloroform extracts of Trigonella foenum‐graecum caused significant (p < 0.05) mortality of Meloidogyne javanica larvae. The methanol soluble fraction eluted from pure distilled water showed the highest (>92%) nematicidal activity compared with the fractions eluted from pure methanol and different ratios of ...

Linking the protease activity to the nematicidal action of edible mushroom

World Journal of Microbiology and Biotechnology
Biological control using edible mushrooms as natural enemies is a sustainable alternative for pest management. Despite the well-established literature on toxins and secondary metabolites produced by these fungi in the biochemical control of nematodes, the nematicidal activity of proteases from different Pleurotus species is yet to be investigated ...
