Neonatal enteral feeding tube as loci for Enterobacteriaceae colonisation and risk to neonatal health [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
The incidence of neonatal infections caused by Enterobacteriaceae has been increasing in recent years, and they are now recognised as the predominant causative agents in neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) outbreaks. Klebsiella spp. and Serratia spp. are

SR‐A3 Promotes USP18‐Mediated deISGylation of STING to Protect Against Myocardial Ischemia‐Reperfusion Injury

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
MI/RI is a major clinical challenge with high morbidity and mortality. This study demonstrates that SR‐A3 expression is downregulated in MI/RI, and its deletion exacerbates damage via the USP18/ISG15/STING axis, revealing SR‐A3 as a potential therapeutic target.

Inflammation-guided timing of thoracoscopic repair for recurrent tracheoesophageal fistula: predictive value of preoperative chest CT and a transfer learning model

open access: yesBMC Pediatrics
Background Recurrent tracheoesophageal fistula (RTEF) is one of the most challenging long-term complications following primary repair of esophageal atresia/tracheoesophageal fistula (EA/TEF). Thoracoscopic revision has been increasingly used in patients.

Lactobacillus‐Loaded Bioadhesive Hydrogel with Prolonged Retention and Microenvironmental Remodeling for Endometrial Repair and Fertility Restoration

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A bioactive adhesive hydrogel capable of long‐term uterine retention (>14 days) and local microenvironment modulation is developed by straightforward integration of α‐lipoic acid, L‐arginine, tannic acid, and Lactobacillus johnsonii, which can markedly enhance endometrial repair and restore fertility in a rat model of endometrial injury.

Surgical approach to giant ovarian masses in adolescents: technical considerations

open access: yesPediatric Reports, 2018
Ovarian neoplasms arising from the surface epithelium are rare in the pediatric population; their knowledge is therefore limited and the appropriate management is poorly defined. We describe our experience and suggest our surgical approach to adolescents

Differential Effects of Neonatal Testosterone Treatment on Aggression in Two Selection Lines of Mice [PDF]

open access: yes, 1992
Selection lines of mice, artificially selected for aggression based upon the attack latency score (ALS), were used. In order to determine the relative contribution of neonatal testosterone (T) in the development of aggression, we vary the plasma-T level ...
