Deciphering transcriptional plasticity in pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma reveals alterations in sensory neuron innervation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pancreatic sensory neurons innervating healthy and PDAC tissue were retrogradely labeled and profiled by single‐cell RNA sequencing. Tumor‐associated innervation showed a dominant neurofilament‐positive subtype, altered mitochondrial gene signatures, and reduced non‐peptidergic neurons.

Anti-cancer effects of 3,4-dihydropyrimido[4,5-d]pyrimidin-2(1H)-one derivatives on hepatocellular carcinoma harboring FGFR4 activation

open access: yes, 2022
Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is disease with a high mortality rate and limited treatment options. Alterations of fibroblast growth factor receptor 4 (FGFR4) has been regarded as an oncogenic driver for HCC and a promising target for HCC therapeutics ...

Loss of proton‐sensing TDAG8 increases tumor progression in mouse models of colon cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Loss of the pH‐sensing receptor TDAG8 accelerates colorectal cancer progression in mice. Animals lacking TDAG8 expression had increased tumor growth, DNA damage, and recruitment of tumor‐associated immune cells, including macrophages, neutrophils, and monocytes.

Mitochondria‐Targeting Moieties Based on N‐Tethered Pyridinium Cations

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
Pyridinium cations were benchmarked as mitochondria‐targeting moieties in a panel of N‐tethered fluorescent‐, bioactive‐, and inert‐cargo conjugates. 3,5‐Diphenylpyridinium (DPPy+) is a competent triphenylphosphonium (TPP+) surrogate, combining high mitochondria‐targeting efficiency with lower intrinsic effects on mitochondrial function.

Anti-cancer Effects of HNHA and Lenvatinib by the Suppression of EMT-Mediated Drug Resistance in Cancer Stem Cells [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Anaplastic thyroid cancer (ATC) constitutes less than 2% of total thyroid cancers but accounts for 20-40% of thyroid cancer-related deaths. Cancer stem cell drug resistance represents a primary factor hindering treatment.

Low Incidence of Relapses After Vaccination in Anti‐Aquaporin‐4 Antibody‐Positive NMOSD

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Patients with neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorder (NMOSD) may experience increased signs and symptoms of their underlying disease when vaccinated against meningococcal disease before receiving complement component 5 inhibitor therapies. This retrospective analysis indicated an overall low relapse incidence (mean [range], 3.3% [0.7%–10.6 ...

Neoplasia: An Anniversary of Progress

open access: yes, 2007
This issue marks the 10th year anniversary of Neoplasia where we have seen exciting growth on the impact that Neoplasia has had on cancer research worldwide. Neoplasia was founded in 1999 at which time manuscripts were accepted through e-mail.

Androgen Receptor‐Induced Lactoferrin Accelerates Prostate Tumorigenesis Through Modulating Ferroptosis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study demonstrates that transcription factor androgen receptor (AR) directly binds the LF promoter, driving lactoferrin overexpression to promote ferritin (FTH1/FTL) upregulation and inhibit p53‐ALOX12‐mediated ferroptosis in prostate cancer. Lactoferrin could be a new potential therapeutic target in prostate cancer.

Noninvasive Focal Gene Delivery into the Cerebellum of Non‐Human Primates using Focused Ultrasound

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Focal and non‐invasive viral vector delivery in non‐human primates remains a major challenge in translational neuroscience. Low‐intensity focused ultrasound was used to transiently open the blood–brain barrier and enable targeted gene delivery to the cerebellum.
