Treatment of a mixed acinar-endocrine carcinoma with uptake on 68Gallium-DOTATOC positron emission tomography-computed tomography : a case report [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
The case of a 35-year old female patient with a diagnosis of metastatic mixed acinar-endocrine carcinoma (MAEC) is investigated in the present study.

Liquid biopsy epigenetics: establishing a molecular profile based on cell‐free DNA

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cell‐free DNA (cfDNA) fragments in plasma from cancer patients carry epigenetic signatures reflecting their cells of origin. These epigenetic features include DNA methylation, nucleosome modifications, and variations in fragmentation. This review describes the biological properties of each feature and explores optimal strategies for harnessing cfDNA ...

Relapse of Pleomorphic Adenoma from Childhood to Adulthood: Case Report

open access: yesActa Clinica Croatica, 2017
Pleomorphic adenoma is rarely seen in childhood. After detailed literature search, we did not come across a case of frequent relapse of this benign tumor from childhood to adulthood. The World Health Organization defines relapse of pleomorphic adenoma as

Surgery results in low relapse and progression rates in extramedullary plasmacytoma of the head and neck: A case cohort and review of the literature

open access: yesHematology Reports, 2020
Extramedullary plasmacytoma of the head and neck is a rare indolent neoplasm. Radiotherapy is often the preferred treatment option with excellent local control and survival.

Characterization of efficacy and toxicity after high-dose pelvic reirradiation with palliative intent for genitourinary second malignant neoplasms or local recurrences after full-dose radiation therapy in the pelvis: A high-volume cancer center experience [PDF]

open access: yesAdvances in Radiation Oncology, 2017
The use of large-field external beam reirradiation (re-RT) after pelvic radiation therapy (RT) for genitourinary (GU) cancers has not been reported. We report the results of such treatment in patients with either symptomatic GU second malignant neoplasms or locally recurrent pelvic tumors after initial RT for whom surgery or further systemic therapy ...

Improving PARP inhibitor efficacy in bladder cancer without genetic BRCAness by combination with PLX51107

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Clinical trials on PARP inhibitors in urothelial carcinoma (UC) showed limited efficacy and a lack of predictive biomarkers. We propose SLFN5, SLFN11, and OAS1 as UC‐specific response predictors. We suggest Talazoparib as the better PARP inhibitor for UC than Olaparib.

Prognostic factors for hepatocellular carcinoma recurrence.

open access: yesWorld Journal of Gastroenterology, 2014
The recurrence of hepatocellular carcinoma, the sixth most common neoplasm and the third leading cause of cancer-related mortality worldwide, represents an important clinical problem, since it may occur after both surgical and medical treatment.

Class IIa HDACs forced degradation allows resensitization of oxaliplatin‐resistant FBXW7‐mutated colorectal cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
HDAC4 is degraded by the E3 ligase FBXW7. In colorectal cancer, FBXW7 mutations prevent HDAC4 degradation, leading to oxaliplatin resistance. Forced degradation of HDAC4 using a PROTAC compound restores drug sensitivity by resetting the super‐enhancer landscape, reprogramming the epigenetic state of FBXW7‐mutated cells to resemble oxaliplatin ...

Post-surgical Pancreatitis Masquerading as Recurrent Neuroendocrine Cancer [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Neuroendocrine tumours of the pancreas can have a spectrum of behaviour from relatively benign to aggressive. Resection can result in cure although metastatic disease is described.

Molecular characterisation of human penile carcinoma and generation of paired epithelial primary cell lines

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Generation of two normal and tumour (cancerous) paired human cell lines using an established tissue culture technique and their characterisation is described. Cell lines were characterised at cellular, protein, chromosome and gene expression levels and for HPV status.
