Synchronous triple primary lung cancer with three different histological subtypes in the same lobe: A case report

open access: yesThoracic Cancer, 2021
Although the number of patients diagnosed with synchronous multiple primary lung cancer is growing because of increased screening and improved imaging technology, synchronous triple primary lung cancer with different histological tumor subtypes occurring

Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...

[Multiple primary neoplasms].

open access: yesWiadomosci lekarskie (Warsaw, Poland : 1960), 1990
In the years 1980-1987 in the Department of Internal Diseases, Silesian Medical Academy in Katowice 32 patients were observed with multiple malignant neoplasms of various organs. The time from the diagnosis of the first neoplasm to the appearance of the second one was from 0 to 168 months (mean 61.8 months).

Subtype‐specific enhancer RNAs define transcriptional regulators and prognosis in breast cancers

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study employed machine learning methodologies to perform the subtype‐specific classification of RNA‐seq data sets, which are mapped on enhancers from TCGA‐derived breast cancer patients. Their integration with gene expression (referred to as ProxCReAM eRNAs) and chromatin accessibility profiles has the potential to identify lineage‐specific and ...

Comparative analysis through propensity score matching in thyroid cancer: unveiling the impact of multiple malignancies

open access: yesFrontiers in Endocrinology
BackgroundThe incidence of thyroid cancer is on the rise worldwide, with childhood exposure to radiation being the sole acknowledged catalyst for its emergence. Nonetheless, numerous other factors that may pose risks are awaiting thorough examination and

Imaging Features of Various Benign and Malignant Tumors and Tumorlike Conditions of the Pleura: A Pictorial Review

open access: yes대한영상의학회지, 2020
Pleural masses may be caused by various conditions, including benign and malignant neoplasms and non-neoplastic tumorlike conditions. Primary pleural neoplasms include solitary fibrous tumor, malignant mesothelioma, and primary pleural non-Hodgkin’s ...

Multiple primary malignancies

open access: yes, 2017
Two cases of multiple primary malignancies (two or more neoplasms without any relationship between them) are presented in this paper. The first case (65 years) was a male in whom follicular carcinoma of thyroid, metachronous neuroendocrine tumor of ...

Dimethyl fumarate combined with cisplatin at subcytotoxic doses sensitizes cervical cancer toward ferroptosis and apoptosis through GSH restriction and p53 (re)activation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dimethyl fumarate (DMF) reduces growth of HPV‐positive cervical cancer spheroids and induces ferroptosis in cervical cancer cells via blocking SLC7A11/Glutathione (GSH) axis. Combination of subcytotoxic doses of DMF and cisplatin (CDDP) further suppresses spheroid growth and drives cell death in 2D culture models.

Synchronous Large-Cell Neuroendocrine Carcinoma and Adenocarcinoma of the Colon

open access: yesGut and Liver, 2010
Large-cell neuroendocrine carcinoma of the colon is a rare entity with a prognosis that is usually poor due to the high likelihood of early metastasis. A 61-year-old man had surgery for colon cancer of the transverse colon and cecum.
