Construction of a Non‐Invasive Predictive Model Based on PIVKA‐II Combined With MRI Imaging Features for Evaluating Microvascular Invasion in Hepatocellular Carcinoma

open access: yesThe Kaohsiung Journal of Medical Sciences, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This study developed a non‐invasive model using PIVKA‐II and MRI features to predict microvascular invasion in hepatocellular carcinoma, providing a reliable tool for early risk assessment and personalized treatment planning. The study included 98 patients with pathologically confirmed HCC (Child‐Pugh A, BCLC stage A), comprising 43 MVI ...

Effects of Extracorporeal Shock Wave Therapy on Tendon Integrity, Biomechanical Strength, Matrix Remodeling, Inflammation, Angiogenesis, and Tenogenic Differentiation in Rotator Cuff Injury

open access: yesThe Kaohsiung Journal of Medical Sciences, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Extracorporeal shock wave therapy (ESWT) improves tendon‐bone healing after rotator cuff injury (RCI), but its underlying cellular mechanisms remain unknown. This study aimed to explore the therapeutic effects of ESWT on RCI, with a particular focus on endothelial cells and tenocytes.

Managing the meniscus Part 2: Traumatic tear patterns, biologic augmentation, transplantation, innovation and future research

open access: yesKnee Surgery, Sports Traumatology, Arthroscopy, EarlyView.
Abstract Acute, traumatic meniscus tears are common and should be repaired whenever possible. However, the biological age of the patient, along with the specific tear morphology, may significantly influence the selection of the repair technique, expected clinical outcomes and the postoperative rehabilitation protocol.

Effects of Intubation Duration on Trachea: A Histopathological Study

open access: yesThe Laryngoscope, EarlyView.
This study evaluated the histopathological effects of prolonged endotracheal intubation on the human trachea using biopsy specimens obtained during tracheotomy. Prolonged intubation was associated with progressive inflammatory and structural changes, with tracheal dilatation and perichondritis increasing significantly after 14 days.
