Pomegranate Extracts as Dual Regulators of Angiogenesis: A Systematic Review of Preclinical Evidence in Cancer and Chronic Wound Healing

open access: yesMolecular Nutrition &Food Research, EarlyView.
Pomegranate extracts contain polyphenols with: anti‐angiogenic properties inhibiting angiogenesis in Cancer resulting in decreased cancer growth; pro‐angiogenic properties promoting angiogenesis in chronic wound healing hence increasing the healing process ABSTRACT Angiogenesis plays a critical role in both tumor progression and wound healing.

Assessing the Impact of Partial Decellularization on Tracheal Chondrocytes and Extracellular Matrix in Airway Reconstruction

open access: yesOtolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery, EarlyView.
Abstract Objective Partially decellularized tracheal grafts (PDTG) are potential candidates for tracheal replacement as they support neotissue formation without stenosis or rejection. However, the effects of partial decellularization (PD) on extracellular matrix (ECM) and chondrocytes are not currently understood, limiting PDTG translatability for ...

Anemia and retinopathy of prematurity: A narrative review

open access: yesPediatric Investigation, EarlyView.
Anemia in infants who are at greatest risk of developing severe retinopathy of prematurity is almost universal. There is plausible evidence in the literature correlating anemia with severe ROP. However, the relationship is complex, and further study is needed to better understand the potential molecular mechanisms for anemia‐associated ROP.

Ocular involvement in newly diagnosed pediatric leukemia: A systematic review and meta‐analysis

open access: yesPediatric Investigation, EarlyView.
The global prevalence of ocular involvement in pediatric leukemia is estimated to be 20.32%, which is more common than previously recognized. Given the high rate of asymptomatic involvement, screening for all newly diagnosed leukemia patients is recommended.
