Monitoring the therapy of pulmonary tuberculosis by nested polymerase chain reaction assay
Journal of Infection, 1997Monthly clinical and microbiological parameters (by sputum smear, culture and PCR assay), of 50 patients with documented pulmonary tuberculosis and on anti-tuberculosis therapy, were monitored over a period of 18 months. PCR converters (70%) who had PCR conversion before the sixth month of treatment did not have clinical or microbiological evidence of ...

Sensitive detection of canine parvovirus DNA by the nested polymerase chain reaction
Veterinary Microbiology, 1994A polymerase chain reaction (PCR) for the detection of canine parvovirus (CPV) was developed. To increase the sensitivity and specificity of the reaction, the nested PCR with a double-nested primer pair (inner primer pair) was designed. The sequences of the PCR primer pairs were selected from the conserved region in the CPV VP1/VP2 gene.

Nested polymerase chain reaction for assessing the clinical course of tuberculous meningitis
Neurology, 2005The authors examined the usefulness of nested PCR (N-PCR) to detect Mycobacterium tuberculosis (MTB) DNA in CSF for assessing the clinical course of tuberculous meningitis (TBM). N-PCR successfully detected MTB DNA in all nine CSF samples from patients with suspected TBM.

Serotype-specific amplification of Rickettsia tsutsugamushi DNA by nested polymerase chain reaction
Journal of Clinical Microbiology, 1993Polymerase chain reaction (PCR) with nested primer pairs was used to diagnose scrub typhus and identify the Rickettsia tsutsugamushi serotype. The primer pairs used for PCR were designed on the basis of the nucleotide sequence of the gene that encodes the 56-kDa antigen. Serotype-specific primers were used in the second PCR amplification.

Improved sizing of fragile X CCG repeats by nested polymerase chain reaction
American Journal of Medical Genetics, 1994AbstractWe have developed an improved method for polymerase chain reaction (PCR)‐based sizing of the CCG repeat region at the fragile X locus, FMR‐1. This method is designed to optimize denaturation and replication of long repeats with high G + C content, which are otherwise refractory to amplification.

Detection of Periodontal Bacteria in Atheromatous Plaque by Nested Polymerase Chain Reaction
Journal of Periodontology, 2011Background: In recent years, increasing evidence regarding the potential association between periodontal diseases and cardiovascular diseases has been identified. The available evidence underlines the importance of detecting periodontal pathogens on atheromatous plaque as the first step in demonstrating the causal relationship between the two ...

Diagnosis of Herpetic Keratoconjunctivitis by Nested Polymerase Chain Reaction in Human Tear Film
European Journal of Clinical Microbiology & Infectious Diseases, 1998A study was performed to evaluate nested PCR (nPCR) versus viral cultures as method and tear film versus corneal scrapings as specimen in the diagnosis of viral keratoconjunctivitis. Tear film specimens were taken from both eyes and corneal scrapings from the affected eye only in 17 patients with suspected viral keratoconjunctivitis.

[Detection of human cytomegalovirus DNA by nested polymerase chain reaction].
Rinsho byori. The Japanese journal of clinical pathology, 1995Detection of human cytomegalovirus (CMV) DNA from peripheral blood and urine specimens taken from renal transplant and bone marrow transplant recipients was examined by using nested polymerase chain reaction (PCR). Results by the PCR were compared with those of healthy subjects.

[Amplifying Helicobacter pylori's urease gene by nested polymerase chain reaction].
Zhonghua nei ke za zhi, 1995By using nested polymerase chain reaction (PCR) composed of three primers that derived from Helicobacter pylori's (Hp) urease gene region, we have not only successfully amplified control Hp and 214 clinic samples but also studied deeply preparation of the sample, composition of PCR reaction liquid and circulatory mental conditions of the PCR.

A Nested Reverse Transcriptase-Polymerase Chain Reaction Assay to Detect BCR/ abl
2003Chronic myelogenous leukemia (CML), a clonal myeloproliferative disorder in adults, and some pediatric and adult acute lymphoblastic leukemias (ALLs) are characterized by the presence of a Philadelphia chromosome, t(9;22)(q34;q11) (1). In this chromosomal translocation, exons from a major breakpoint cluster region (M-bcr), located on chromosome 22q11 ...
