A Multifaceted Approach to Developing an Australian National Map of Protected Cropping Structures

open access: yesLand, 2023
As the global population rises, there is an ever-increasing demand for food, in terms of volume, quality and sustainable production. Protected Cropping Structures (PCS) provide controlled farming environments that support the optimum use of crop inputs ...

Sequence nets

open access: yesPhysical Review E, 2008
We study a new class of networks, generated by sequences of letters taken from a finite alphabet consisting of $m$ letters (corresponding to $m$ types of nodes) and a fixed set of connectivity rules. Recently, it was shown how a binary alphabet might generate threshold nets in a similar fashion [Hagberg et al., Phys. Rev. E 74, 056116 (2006)].

A Bibliometric Analysis of Publications in Uremic Toxins From 1991 to 2024

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Uremic toxins are a growing area of research in nephrology, with significant implications in the progression and treatment of chronic kidney disease (CKD) and the management of end‐stage kidney disease (ESKD). This bibliometric analysis aims to evaluate the global research trends, key contributors, and the impact of publications in ...

Pre- and Postharvest Management of Sunburn in ‘Granny Smith’ Apples (Malus × domestica Borkh) under Neotropical Climate Conditions

open access: yesAgronomy, 2021
Sun damage on apples is attributed to the occurrence of high temperatures, incident radiation, and fruit and plant water parameters, all dependent on climatic conditions and management. The development of new production areas and climate changes increase

Prognosis of Long‐Term Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy and the Impact of Combined Continuous Intravenous Sodium Infusion Therapy

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction Patients requiring long‐term continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT) generally have poor prognoses. This study evaluated whether adding continuous intravenous sodium infusion (cIVNa) is associated with improved hemodynamics and outcomes in patients undergoing long‐term CRRT for ≥ 7 days.

Serum Myonectin Levels Are Positively Associated With Physical Function and Lower Frailty‐Related Limitation in Maintenance Hemodialysis Patients: A Cross‐Sectional Study

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Maintenance hemodialysis (MHD) patients frequently suffer from frailty, characterized by reduced physical function and poor prognosis. Myokines, such as myonectin, secreted by muscle, are emerging regulators of systemic health. This study investigated the relationship between serum myonectin, adipokines (adiponectin, omentin), and ...

Staging Gallium-68 DOTATATE PET/CT Imaging in Neuroendocrine Tumors: Relationship between Measured SUVmax of the Primary Tumor and the Pathological Grade and Ki-67 Proliferation Index

open access: yesHitit Medical Journal
Objective: To determine whether the maximum standardized uptake value (SUVmax) of the primary lesion measured via Ga-68 DOTATATE PET/CT imaging can be used to predict histological grade and Ki-67 proliferation index in treatment-naïve neuroendocrine ...

NETest is superior to chromogranin A in neuroendocrine neoplasia: a prospective ENETS CoE analysis

open access: yesEndocrine Connections, 2021
Introduction: The absence of a reliable, universal biomarker is a significant limitation in neuroendocrine neoplasia (NEN) management. We prospectively evaluated two CgA assays, (NEOLISA, EuroDiagnostica) and (CgA ELISA, Demeditec Diagnostics (DD)) and ...

Comparative Evaluation of Hemodiafiltration, Hemoperfusion, and Standard Hemodialysis on Efficacy, Inflammatory Control, Dialysis Adequacy, and Safety in End‐Stage Renal Disease: A Prospective Observational Study

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Chronic micro‐inflammation in patients with end‐stage renal disease (ESRD) is a significant driver of cardiovascular complications and diminished quality of life. While standard hemodialysis (SHD) effectively manages small‐molecule clearance, its ability to remove medium‐to‐large uremic toxins—the primary catalysts of systemic ...

The End of the World? Mental Causation, Explanation and Metaphysics

open access: yesHumana.Mente: Journal of Philosophical Studies, 2015
In this paper we offer some ideas on the relationship between metaphysics of causation and common explanatory practices of behaviour. We first suggest a sort of “negotiating model” for theorizing about mental causation, and then examine the so-called ...
