ABSTRACT End‐of‐life conversations with adolescents and young adults (AYAs) with cancer rarely occur without the guidance of healthcare professionals. As a part of the ‘Difficult Discussions’ study, focused on palliative care and advance care planning discussions with AYAs with cancer, we investigated the factors that healthcare professionals identify ...

A Novel Approach for Multi-Period Reverse Logistics Network Design under High Uncertainty
In this paper, a multi-period multi-echelon reverse logistics network design problem under high extent of uncertainty is addressed. We first formulate and then solve the multi-period network design model using the cloud-based design optimization ...

Mapping the evolution of mitochondrial complex I through structural variation
Respiratory complex I (CI) is crucial for bioenergetic metabolism in many prokaryotes and eukaryotes. It is composed of a conserved set of core subunits and additional accessory subunits that vary depending on the organism. Here, we categorize CI subunits from available structures to map the evolution of CI across eukaryotes. Respiratory complex I (CI)

Resisting functional telecommunications networks
Some users of telecommunications networks, army forces for example, have requirements which differ from the requirements for public telecommunications networks (PTNs). The difference between PTNs and special requirements networks is analyzed and, for the

Network design with probabilistic capacities [PDF]
We consider a network design problem with random arc capacities and give a formulation with a probabilistic capacity constraint on each cut of the network. To handle the exponentially‐many probabilistic constraints a separation procedure that solves a nonlinear minimum cut problem is introduced.

Reciprocal control of viral infection and phosphoinositide dynamics
Phosphoinositides, although scarce, regulate key cellular processes, including membrane dynamics and signaling. Viruses exploit these lipids to support their entry, replication, assembly, and egress. The central role of phosphoinositides in infection highlights phosphoinositide metabolism as a promising antiviral target.

Phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinase as a target of pathogens—friend or foe?
This graphical summary illustrates the roles of phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinases (PI4Ks). PI4Ks regulate key cellular processes and can be hijacked by pathogens, such as viruses, bacteria and parasites, to support their intracellular replication. Their dual role as essential host enzymes and pathogen cofactors makes them promising drug targets.
