A constructivist neural network model of German verb inflection in agrammatic aphasia [PDF]

open access: yes, 1999
We present a constructivist neural network that closely models the performance of agrammatic aphasics on German participle inflection. The network constructs a modular architecture leading to a double dissociation between regular and irregular verbs, and

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

An effective genetic algorithm for network coding [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
The network coding problem (NCP), which aims to minimize network coding resources such as nodes and links, is a relatively new application of genetic algorithms (GAs) and hence little work has so far been reported in this area.

Valosin‐containing protein counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its ATPase activity in vitro

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Biomolecular condensates formed by fused in sarcoma (FUS) are dissolved by high ATP concentrations yet persist in cells. Using a reconstituted system, we demonstrate that valosin‐containing protein (VCP), an AAA+ ATPase, counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its D2 ATPase activity.

Generative Structural Representation of Tonal Music. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
The usefulness and desirability of representation schemes which explicitly show musical structure has often been commented upon. A particular aim of music theory and analysis has been to describe and derive musical structure, and this article discusses ...

Network Alignment by Representation Learning on Structure and Attribute

open access: yes, 2019
Network alignment is the task of recognizing similar network nodes across different networks, which has many applications in various domains. As traditional network alignment methods based on matrix factorization do not scale to large graphs, a variety ...

Tri-party deep network representation

open access: yes, 2016
Information network mining often requires examination of linkage relationships between nodes for analysis. Recently, network representation has emerged to represent each node in a vector format, embedding network structure, so off-the-shelf machine ...

A Neural Network for Text Representation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
Text categorization and retrieval tasks are often based on a good representation of textual data. Departing from the classical vector space model, several probabilistic models have been proposed recently, such as PLSA. In this paper, we propose the use of a neural network based, non-probabilistic, solution, which captures jointly a rich representation ...

Diversity and complexity in neural organoids

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Neural organoid research aims to expand genetic diversity on one side and increase tissue complexity on the other. Chimeroids integrate multiple donor genomes within single organoids. Self‐organising multi‐identity organoids, exogenous cell seeding, or enforced assembly of region‐specific organoids contribute to tissue complexity.

A graph representation framework for encrypted network traffic classification

open access: yes
Network Traffic Classification (NTC) is crucial for ensuring internet security, but encryption presents significant challenges to this task. While Machine Learning (ML) and Deep Learning (DL) methods have shown promise, issues such as limited ...
