General support vector representation machine for one-class classification of non-stationary classes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Novelty detection, also referred to as one-class classification, is the process of detecting 'abnormal' behavior in a system by learning the 'normal' behavior.

Machine Learning Predicts Earthquakes in the Continuum Model of a Rate‐And‐State Fault With Frictional Heterogeneities

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters
Machine learning (ML) has been used to study the predictability of laboratory earthquakes. However, the question remains whether or not this approach can be applied in a tectonic setting where one may have to rely on sparse earthquake catalogs, and where

Hyperosmotic stress induces PARP1‐mediated HPF1‐dependent mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Sorbitol‐induced hyperosmotic stress rapidly induces reversible mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation (MARylation) on PARP1 without the signs of genotoxic signaling. We show that PARP1 autoMARylation is HPF1 dependent and forms hydroxylamine‐resistant O‐glycosidic linkages.

Economical representation of spatial networks

open access: yesPNAS Nexus
Abstract Network representation is crucial across various scientific, societal, technological, and artistic domains. The primary goal is to highlight patterns out of nodes interconnected by edges that are easy to understand, facilitate communication, and support decision-making.

Linking neurogenesis, oligodendrogenesis, and myelination defects to neurodevelopmental disruption in primary mitochondrial disorders

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Mitochondrial remodeling shapes neural and glial lineage progression by matching metabolic supply with demand. Elevated OXPHOS supports differentiation and myelin formation, while myelin compaction lowers mitochondrial dependence, revealing mitochondria as key drivers of developmental energy adaptation.

A Formal Context Representation Framework for Network-Enabled Cognition

open access: yes, 2010
Network-accessible resources are inherently contextual with respect to the specific situations (e.g., location and default assumptions) in which they are used.
