A data mining approach using cortical thickness for diagnosis and characterization of essential tremor

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2017
Essential tremor (ET) is one of the most prevalent movement disorders. Being that it is a common disorder, its diagnosis is considered routine. However, misdiagnoses may occur regularly.

Approximate Bisimulation Relations for Neural Networks and Application to Assured Neural Network Compression [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2022
In this paper, we propose a concept of approximate bisimulation relation for feedforward neural networks. In the framework of approximate bisimulation relation, a novel neural network merging method is developed to compute the approximate bisimulation error between two neural networks based on reachability analysis of neural networks.

Transcriptome‐wide analysis of circRNA and RBP profiles and their molecular relevance for GBM

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
CircRNAs are differentially expressed in glioblastoma primary tumors and might serve as therapeutic targets and diagnostic markers. The investigation of circRNA and RNA‐binding proteins (RBPs) interactions shows that distinct RBPs play a role in circRNA biogenesis and function.

EEG-Triggered Functional Electrical Stimulation Therapy for Restoring Upper Limb Function in Chronic Stroke with Severe Hemiplegia

open access: yesCase Reports in Neurological Medicine, 2016
We report the therapeutic effects of integrating brain-computer interfacing technology and functional electrical stimulation therapy to restore upper limb reaching movements in a 64-year-old man with severe left hemiplegia following a hemorrhagic stroke ...

Deep neural networks for direct, featureless learning through observation: the case of 2d spin models

open access: yes, 2018
We demonstrate the capability of a convolutional deep neural network in predicting the nearest-neighbor energy of the 4x4 Ising model. Using its success at this task, we motivate the study of the larger 8x8 Ising model, showing that the deep neural ...

ShcD adaptor protein drives invasion of triple negative breast cancer cells by aberrant activation of EGFR signaling

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We identified adaptor protein ShcD as upregulated in triple‐negative breast cancer and found its expression to be correlated with reduced patient survival and increased invasion in cell models. Using a proteomic screen, we identified novel ShcD binding partners involved in EGFR signaling pathways.

Neural networks in psychiatry

open access: yesEuropean Neuropsychopharmacology, 2013
Over the past three decades numerous imaging studies have revealed structural and functional brain abnormalities in patients with neuropsychiatric diseases. These structural and functional brain changes are frequently found in multiple, discrete brain areas and may include frontal, temporal, parietal and occipital cortices as well as subcortical brain ...

Targeting the AKT/mTOR pathway attenuates the metastatic potential of colorectal carcinoma circulating tumor cells in a murine xenotransplantation model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dual targeting of AKT and mTOR using MK2206 and RAD001 reduces tumor burden in an intracardiac colon cancer circulating tumor cell xenotransplantation model. Analysis of AKT isoform‐specific knockdowns in CTC‐MCC‐41 reveals differentially regulated proteins and phospho‐proteins by liquid chromatography coupled mass spectrometry. Circulating tumor cells
