A VLSI Neural Network for Color Constancy [PDF]

open access: yes, 1991
A system for color correction has been designed, built, and tested successfully; the essential components are three custom chips built using sub-threshold analog CMOS VLSI. The system, based on Land's Retinex theory of color constancy, produces colors

Neural Network Operations and Susuki-Trotter evolution of Neural Network States

open access: yes, 2018
It was recently proposed to leverage the representational power of artificial neural networks, in particular Restricted Boltzmann Machines, in order to model complex quantum states of many-body systems [Science, 355(6325), 2017].

Neural networks in psychiatry

open access: yesEuropean Neuropsychopharmacology, 2013
Over the past three decades numerous imaging studies have revealed structural and functional brain abnormalities in patients with neuropsychiatric diseases. These structural and functional brain changes are frequently found in multiple, discrete brain areas and may include frontal, temporal, parietal and occipital cortices as well as subcortical brain ...

EMT‐associated bias in the Parsortix® system observed with pancreatic cancer cell lines

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The Parsortix® system was tested for CTC enrichment using pancreatic cancer cell lines with different EMT phenotypes. Spike‐in experiments showed lower recovery of mesenchymal‐like cells. This was confirmed with an EMT‐inducible breast cancer cell line.

EEG-Triggered Functional Electrical Stimulation Therapy for Restoring Upper Limb Function in Chronic Stroke with Severe Hemiplegia

open access: yesCase Reports in Neurological Medicine, 2016
We report the therapeutic effects of integrating brain-computer interfacing technology and functional electrical stimulation therapy to restore upper limb reaching movements in a 64-year-old man with severe left hemiplegia following a hemorrhagic stroke ...

Spatially informed clustering, integration, and deconvolution of spatial transcriptomics with GraphST

open access: yesNature Communications, 2023
Advances in spatial transcriptomics technologies have enabled the gene expression profiling of tissues while retaining spatial context. Here the authors present GraphST, a graph self-supervised contrastive learning method that learns informative and ...

Machine learning for identifying liver and pancreas cancers through comprehensive serum glycopeptide spectra analysis: a case‐control study

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study presents a novel AI‐based diagnostic approach—comprehensive serum glycopeptide spectra analysis (CSGSA)—that integrates tumor markers and enriched glycopeptides from serum. Using a neural network model, this method accurately distinguishes liver and pancreatic cancers from healthy individuals.

Pericytes change function depending on glioblastoma vicinity: emphasis on immune regulation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pericytes alter their transcriptome depending on their proximity to the tumor core. In the tumor core, pericytes display a more active state with higher communication strength but with lower immune activation potential and a shift toward extracellular matrix production.

Decrypting cancer's spatial code: from single cells to tissue niches

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Spatial transcriptomics maps gene activity across tissues, offering powerful insights into how cancer cells are organised, switch states and interact with their surroundings. This review outlines emerging computational, artificial intelligence (AI) and geospatial approaches to define cell states, uncover tumour niches and integrate spatial data with ...
