Autoimmune Encephalitis in Acute Care—Pathology, Diagnosis, and Management

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Autoimmune encephalitis (AE) is characterized by immune‐mediated inflammation of the brain parenchyma, presenting with various neurological syndromes, including but not limited to seizures, altered consciousness, neuropsychiatric symptoms, and movement disorders.

Pancreatic neuroendocrine tumours

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Surgical Oncology (EJSO), 2008
Pancreatic neuroendocrine tumours (PET) are rare neoplasms of the pancreas accounting for less than 5% of all primary pancreatic malignancies. Included in this group are insulinomas, gastrinomas, glucagonoma and somatostatinomas. Collectively these neoplasms are classified as functional PETs.

Higher serum myostatin levels are associated with lower insulin sensitivity in adults with overweight/obesity

open access: yesPhysiological Reports
Myostatin inhibition improves insulin sensitivity in preclinical and clinical models; however, studies investigating the relationship between serum myostatin levels and insulin sensitivity are discrepant.

The NETest liquid biopsy is diagnostic for gastric neuroendocrine tumors: observations on the blood-based identification of microscopic and macroscopic residual diseaseOK

open access: yesBMC Gastroenterology, 2020
Background NETest, a novel multi-gene liquid biopsy has utility in neuroendocrine tumor (NET) diagnosis and identification of residual disease. We independently assessed utility of the NETest to diagnose gastric neuroendocrine neoplasms (GNENs) and ...

Synchronous primary papillary breast cancer, medullary thyroid carcinoma and neuroendocrine tumor in postmenopausal woman. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Multiple endocrine neoplasia are syndromes involving two or more endocrine tissues, often correlated to RET proto-oncogene mutations. We herein present the first reported case of a 57-years-old woman with three synchronous primary cancers of breast ...

Multi-Omics Analyses Detail Metabolic Reprogramming in Lipids, Carnitines, and Use of Glycolytic Intermediates between Prostate Small Cell Neuroendocrine Carcinoma and Prostate Adenocarcinoma. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
As the most common cancer in men, prostate cancer is molecularly heterogeneous. Contributing to this heterogeneity are the poorly understood metabolic adaptations of the two main types of prostate cancer, i.e., adenocarcinoma and small cell ...

Dual‐Responsive Dynamic Covalent Bond‐Based Assembly of Lipid‐Nanozyme Systems via Multi‐Target Synergy and Efficient Target Enrichment for Ischemic Stroke Therapy

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This system adopts a biomimetic phospholipid structure, covalently binding iNOS inhibitors, neuroprotective agent PCA and vitamin E derivatives through pH/ROS dual‐responsive bonds, and assembles them with Prussian blue nanozyme to form PBB@AHA. It can efficiently penetrate the blood‐brain barrier and simultaneously release multiple active components ...

Auditory pallial regulation of the social behavior network

open access: yesCommunications Biology
Sensory cues such as vocalizations contain important social information. Processing social features of vocalizations (e.g., vocalizer identity, emotional state) necessitates unpacking the complex sound streams in song or speech; this depends on circuits ...

Inhibition of SIRT7 Overcomes Radioresistance in Pancreatic Neuroendocrine Tumors by Reactivating MEN1 Expression

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Pancreatic neuroendocrine tumors frequently silence MEN1 through epigenetic mechanisms. Here, SIRT7 recruits DNMT1 to the MEN1 promoter, drives hypermethylation, and enhances DNA repair. Inhibiting SIRT7 restores MEN1, reduces MRN complex abundance, impairs double‐strand break repair, and sensitizes PanNET models to radiation, supporting SIRT7 as a ...

68Ga-DOTA-TATE PET/CT improves accuracy and guides management in multiple endocrine neoplasia type 1 (MEN-1) patients with suspected duodeno-pancreatic neuroendocrine tumours

open access: yesEndocrine Oncology
Purpose: To evaluate the added benefit and accuracy of 68Ga-DOTA-TATE PET/CT scans in detecting duodeno-pancreatic neuroendocrine tumours (dpNETs) compared to conventional cross-sectional imaging with CT or MRI scans in patients with multiple endocrine ...
