Mechanism-Based Modeling of Neuromuscular Monitoring Measures During General Anesthesia
This study presents a mechanism-based model of neuromuscular transmission that incorporates the effects of Non-depolarizing Neuromuscular Blockers (NDNBs) used in general anesthesia. NDNBs act on acetylcholine receptors at both the pre- and post-synaptic

The Role of rescue therapies in the treatment of severe ARDS [PDF]
ARDS is characterized by a non-cardiogenic pulmonary edema with bilateral chest radiograph opacities and hypoxemia refractory to oxygen therapy. It is a common cause of admission to the ICU due to hypoxemic respiratory failure requiring mechanical ...

SPARC (spatio‐chimeric, plasma‐based, anisotropic, and shear‐responsive construct) that integrates myogenic and vascular microenvironments within a single construct. The dual‐modulus matrix directs aligned myotube formation and endothelial network development, enabling a vascularized muscle implant that seamlessly anastomoses with host tissue and ...

Neuromuscular blockers—a means of palliation? [PDF]
As we die, our respiratory pattern is altered and we seem to gasp and struggle for each breath. Such gasping is commonly seen as a clear sign of dyspnoea and suffering by families and loved ones, however, it is unclear whether it is perceived at all by the dying person. Narcotics and sedatives do not seem to affect these gasping respirations.

Transducers convert physical signals into electrical and optical representations, yet each mechanism is bounded by intrinsic trade‐offs across bandwidth, sensitivity, speed, and energy. This review maps transduction mechanisms across physical scale and frequency, showing how heterogeneous integration and multiphysics co‐design transform isolated ...

Prediction of Discharge Outcome with the Full Outline of Unresponsiveness (FOUR) Score in Neurosurgical Patients [PDF]
To identify the diagnostic properties of the Full Outline of Unresponsiveness (FOUR) score and the discharge outcome, 318 patients were studied. The evaluators rated the patients on admission or when they had mental status alteration with the FOUR score.

Chemically Doped Conductive Polymers for Wearable Health Monitoring
Among conductive polymers, poly(3,4‐ethylenedioxythiophene):poly(styrenesulfonate) (PEDOT:PSS), polyaniline (PANI), and polypyrrole (PPy) are the most studied and applied. Chemical doping significantly boosts intrinsic conductivity and mechanical robustness.

Intubating conditions following rapid sequence induction with three doses of succinylcholine
Background: The aim of this prospective, randomized, double-blind study was to compare tracheal intubating conditions and the duration of apnoea following administration of 0.4, 0.6 and 1.0 mg/kg of succinylcholine during simulated rapid sequence ...
