Downregulation of genes with a function in axon outgrowth and synapse formation in motor neurones of the VEGF(delta/delta) mouse model of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Background: Vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) is an endothelial cell mitogen that stimulates vasculogenesis. It has also been shown to act as a neurotrophic factor in vitro and in vivo.

3D (Bio) Printing Combined Fiber Fabrication Methods for Tissue Engineering Applications: Possibilities and Limitations

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Biofabrication aims at providing innovative technologies and tools for the fabrication of tissue‐like constructs for tissue engineering and regenerative medicine applications. By integrating multiple biofabrication technologies, such as 3D (bio) printing with fiber fabrication methods, it would be more realistic to reconstruct native tissue's ...

All‐in‐One Analog AI Hardware: On‐Chip Training and Inference with Conductive‐Metal‐Oxide/HfOx ReRAM Devices

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
An all‐in‐one analog AI accelerator is presented, enabling on‐chip training, weight retention, and long‐term inference acceleration. It leverages a BEOL‐integrated CMO/HfOx ReRAM array with low‐voltage operation (<1.5 V), multi‐bit capability over 32 states, low programming noise (10 nS), and near‐ideal weight transfer.

Nonautonomous Regulation of Neuronal Migration by Insulin Signaling, DAF-16/FOXO, and PAK-1

open access: yesCell Reports, 2013
Neuronal migration is essential for nervous system development in all organisms and is regulated in the nematode, C. elegans, by signaling pathways that are conserved in humans. Here, we demonstrate that the insulin/IGF-1-PI3K signaling pathway modulates

Vital dye labelling demonstrates a sacral neural crest contribution to the enteric nervous system of chick and mouse embryos [PDF]

open access: yes, 1991
We have used the vital dye, DiI, to analyze the contribution of sacral neural crest cells to the enteric nervous system in chick and mouse embryos. In order to label premigratory sacral neural crest cells selectively, DiI was injected into the lumen of ...

Catalytic TiO2 with Self‐Assembled Monolayer for Highly Sensitive, Selective, and Non‐Invasive Monitoring of Sweat L‐Cysteine

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A self‐assembled monolayer of 3‐mercaptopropyltrimethoxysilane (MPTS) molecular receptor and titanium oxide‐modified carbon cloth (MPTS/TiO2/CC) was synthesized for the specific detection of sweat L‐cysteine, which is associated with the precision neutrition, cardiovascular system and neuro system.

Genotype-phenotype correlation in neuronal migration disorders and cortical dysplasias

open access: yesFrontiers in Neuroscience, 2015
Neuronal migration disorders are human (or animal) diseases that result from a disruption in the normal movement of neurons from their original birth site to their final destination during early development. As a consequence, the neurons remain somewhere
