Phosphatidylinositol‐4,5‐bisphosphate 3‐kinase (PI3K) inhibitors reduce vascular inflammation in vitro and in vivo

open access: yesBritish Journal of Pharmacology, EarlyView.
Background and Purpose Endothelial cells play central roles in increasing vascular permeability and leukocyte recruitment. Therapeutic approaches for treating endothelial cell barrier dysfunction to reduce unwanted fluid accumulation in tissues are limited.

TRPA1 ion channel activation context‐dependently regulates gene expression in normal and psoriatic human skin

open access: yesBritish Journal of Pharmacology, EarlyView.
Abstract Background and Purpose Psoriasis is a chronic, relapsing, immune‐mediated inflammatory skin disease. The transient receptor potential ankyrin 1 (TRPA1) ion channel plays a protective role in the formation of psoriasiform skin reactions. Here, we investigated the pharmacological activation and blockade of TRPA1 in human skin (patho)physiology ...

Is there a role for cannabidiol in obesity, metabolic syndrome and binge eating?

open access: yesBritish Journal of Pharmacology, EarlyView.
Cannabidiol (CBD) is one of the most abundant phytocannabinoids isolated from the Cannabis sativa plant. CBD is a lipophilic, non‐intoxicating substance that differently from Δ9‐tetrahydrocannabinol (Δ9‐THC) does not present the typical profile of a drug of abuse.

The transcriptomic signature of DEPDC5 KO induced mTOR hyperactivation in human neurons and its response to rapamycin treatment

open access: yesEpilepsia, EarlyView.
Abstract Objective Mutations of the DEP Domain Containing 5 gene (DEPDC5), a mechanistic Target of Rapamycin (mTOR) inhibitor involved in amino acid sensing, are associated with neurological diseases such as epilepsy and/or autism spectrum disorder (ASD). Loss of DEPDC5 impacts early neuronal development via mTOR hyperactivity.
