Frequency of trigeminal neurovascular contacts identified on 3D-fast imaging employing steady-state acquisition magnetic resonance imaging in asymptomatic adults

open access: yes
Background: Neurovascular conflict is considered one of the main causes of Trigeminal neuralgia, and 3D fast imaging employing steady-state acquisition magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is the diagnostic imaging of choice. However, no tool is available to

Microvascular decompression for neurovascular conflicts in the cerebello-pontine angle: Which role for endoscopy?

open access: yes, 2013
Background: Microvascular decompression (MVD) is the surgical intervention designed to resolve neurovascular conflicts (NCs) in the cerebellopontine angle (CPA). Today, endoscopy is commonly used in many neurosurgical procedures.

A Skull Bone Marrow‐to‐Brain Axis Links Osteoblastic Activity to Myeloid Cell Trafficking, Cerebral Blood Flow, and Cognition in Alzheimer's Progression

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study reveals that Alzheimer's disease–linked APP expression in bone‐forming cells drives skull bone marrow remodeling and alters its vascular connections to the brain. These changes disrupt immune cell trafficking, cerebral blood flow, and cognition. Targeting bone marrow macrophages restores brain function, highlighting a previously unrecognized

Interrater agreement in contouring the neurovascular bundle and internal pudendal artery for MRgRT

open access: yes, 2021
Purpose or Objective It is hypothesized that radiation damage to neural and vascular tissue, such as the neurovascular bundles (NVBs) and internal pudendal arteries (IPAs), during radiotherapy for prostate cancer (PCa) contributes to erectile dysfunction.

Inhibitory Decay and Supercritical Brain Dynamics During Sleep Deprivation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Sleep deprivation progressively shifts human brain dynamics from near‐critical toward supercritical states, as revealed by neuronal avalanche analysis of resting‐state fMRI. These changes track subjective sleep pressure rather than vigilance lapses and show marked network heterogeneity. A circuit model suggests that reduced inhibitory efficacy provides

Outcomes of trigeminal nerve microsurgical internal neurolysis for trigeminal neuralgia without neurovascular conflict: a systematic review and meta-analysis

open access: yes
Trigeminal neuralgia (TN) without neurovascular conflict poses a therapeutic challenge. Microsurgical internal neurolysis (IN), also known as nerve combing, has emerged as a viable surgical option when microvascular decompression (MVD) is not indicated ...

Mastication‐Induced Electrical Stimulation Activates Prg4+ Chondroprogenitors for Osteoarthritis Therapy

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study presents a ″trash‐to‐treasure″ strategy that converts harmful joint overloads into beneficial electrical cues. The biodegradable MagPie, by providing piezoelectrical stimulation and releasing Mg2+ during mastication, exerts synergistic pro‐regenerative and anti‐inflammatory effects on Prg4+ cells via the ECM‐mediated FAK‐PI3K‐Akt axis ...

A Brain‐Penetrant Nanobody Reveals GSK3β‐Driven Proline‐Directed Phosphorylation as a Master Regulator of Ischemic Neurodegeneration

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A brain‐targeted nanoparticle enables delivery of a therapeutic nanobody (Nb.29E9) that inhibits pathogenic GSK3β signaling. This intervention restores AMPK/mTORC1/TGFβ homeostasis, attenuates neuroinflammation and oxidative stress, and promotes long‐term functional recovery after ischemic stroke.
