Correlações entre características estruturais e valor nutritivo de perfilhos em pastos de capim-braquiária diferidos e adubados com nitrogênio Correlations among structural characteristics and nutritional value of tillers on deferred and nitrogen-fertilized signalgrass pastures

Measurement of rumen dry matter and neutral detergent fiber degradability of feeds by Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy.

open access: yesJournal of Dairy Science, 2014
This study explored the potential of partial least squares (PLS) and Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) to predict rumen dry matter (DM) and neutral detergent fiber (NDF) degradation parameters of a wide range of feeds for ruminants, as an ...

Environmental Impact of a Tooth Extraction: Life Cycle Analysis in a University Hospital Setting

open access: yesCommunity Dentistry and Oral Epidemiology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objectives The global impact of health care on the human environmental burden is enormous, but medical care is currently not realising the potential of sustainable practice. Similarly, dentistry and the various forms of dental treatment are not provided in a sustainable manner.

Exchanging physically effective neutral detergent fiber does not affect chewing activity and performance of late-lactation dairy cows fed corn and sugarcane silages.

open access: yesJournal of Dairy Science, 2014
The objective of this study was to determine whether replacing the physically effective neutral detergent fiber (peNDF) of corn silage with sugarcane silage peNDF would affect performance in dairy cows.

The effect of seawater hardness on cotton fabric dyeing using reactive blue dye

open access: yesColoration Technology, EarlyView.
Abstract Oceans are an abundant source of water; their economic potential has not yet been fully exploited. In this context, the current study aims to apply seawater in the dyeing of cotton fabrics, evaluating the influence that total hardness has on the process results.

Studies of the membrane‐bound flavocytochrome MsrQ flavin mononucleotide (FMN)‐binding site reveal an unexpected ubiquinone cofactor

open access: yesThe FEBS Journal, EarlyView.
The membrane‐bound heme flavoprotein MsrQ is the specific electron donor for the periplasmic methionine sulfoxide reductase MsrP. Analysis of its flavin environment revealed that ubiquinone (UQ) is a cofactor for MsrQ. However, redox studies demonstrate that UQ cannot function as an electron donor for the MsrPQ system.

Comparative efficacy of the conventional and automated methods for determining neutral and acid detergent fiber

open access: yesComunicata Scientiae, 2016
Different methods are available to determine fiber content in feeds. However, information about the accuracy of this methods for neutral detergent fiber (NDF) and acid detergent fiber ADF contents estimation (obtained with the use of TNT-100 nylon filtering bags) is very limited related to the large number of ruminant feed analysis. The purpose of this

Effect of diet composition and incubation time on feed indigestible neutral detergent fiber concentration in dairy cows.

open access: yesJournal of Dairy Science, 2013
Indigestible neutral detergent fiber (NDF) predicts forage digestibility accurately and precisely when determined by a 288-h ruminal in situ incubation, and it is an important parameter in mechanistic rumen models.

Understanding the impacts of intensity and harvest frequency on Tithonia diversifolia for use in tropical silvopastoral systems

open access: yesGrassland Science, EarlyView.
Abstract Tithonia diversifolia (Hemsl.) A. Gray has significant potential as a forage source in silvopastoral systems, particularly in tropical conditions. However, its intensity and frequency management differ from those commonly applied to grasses. This study aims to evaluate T. diversifolia under two harvest intensities (30 and 40 cm stubble height)
