MMF Is an Effective and Safer Treatment Options for Treatment‐Naïve Patients With Autoimmune Hepatitis Compared to Azathioprine: A Systematic Review and Meta‐Analysis

open access: yesJournal of Digestive Diseases, EarlyView.
Mycophenolate mofetil (MMF) demonstrates superior efficacy and tolerability compared to azathioprine (AZA) in treatment‐naïve autoimmune hepatitis (AIH) patients. Meta‐analysis of five studies reveals higher complete biochemical response rates, increased Corticosteroid withdrawal rate, and fewer gastrointestinal side effects with MMF.

Serological monitoring of avian influenza and Newcastle disease in the Russian Federation in 2019

open access: yesВетеринария сегодня, 2020
More than 30,000 samples of blood serum from domestic, wild and synanthropic birds from 50 regions of the Russian Federation were submitted to the FGBI “ARRIAH” (Vladimir) Reference Laboratory for Avian Viral Diseases to be tested for avian influenza and

ISOLATION OF NEWCASTLE DISEASE VIRUS (NDV) IN EMBRYONATED CHICKEN EGGS [PDF]

open access: yesBasrah Journal of Veterinary Research, 2016
Newcastle disease virus (NDV) strains have been divided into three groups: virulent(velogenic), moderately virulent (mesogenic), and non-virulent strains (lentogenic).

Mathematical Modelling to Investigate a Wolbachia Intervention to Reduce Dengue Transmission [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2017
The introduction of Wolbachia-carrying mosquitoes into the population has recently been proposed as an alternative strategy against dengue. Although laboratory experiments have shown that the Wolbachia bacterium can reduce the levels of dengue virus in mosquitoes, it is also important to assess the performance of Wolbachia in reducing the incidence of ...

Transition between immune and disease states in a cellular automaton model of clonal immune response [PDF]

open access: yes, 1997
In this paper we extend the Celada-Seiden (CS) model of the humoral immune response to include infectious virus and cytotoxic T lymphocytes (cellular response). The response of the system to virus involves a competition between the ability of the virus to kill the host cells and the host's ability to eliminate the virus.

Deciphering Novel Communication Patterns in T Regulatory Cells From Very Old Adults

open access: yesAging Cell, EarlyView.
Graphical summary depicting the changes in the co‐receptor landscape (a), migratory potential (b), differentiation program (c) and communication networks (d) in Tregs from the ‐< 66‐year‐old cohort versus the 85‐year‐olds. ABSTRACT Regulatory T cells (Tregs) are important in maintaining tolerance and are key players in immunity.

Modelling the Transmission Dynamics of Nipah Virus with Optimal Control [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2020
A deterministic mathematical model is formulated and analyzed to study the transmission dynamics of Nipah virus both qualitatively and numerically. Existence and stability of equilibria were investigated and the model was rigorously analyzed. We then incorporated time dependent controls on the model, using Pontryagin's Maximum Principle to derive ...

Exercise Recommendations and Practical Considerations for Asthma Management—An EAACI Position Paper

open access: yesAllergy, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Exercise is an important treatment for people with asthma and should be considered alongside pharmacological therapy when developing personalised asthma management plans. Despite this, there remains limited guidance concerning the practicalities of asthma‐specific exercise prescription.

Application of Mathematical Epidemiology to crop vector-borne diseases. The cassava mosaic virus disease case [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2019
In this chapter, an application of Mathematical Epidemiology to crop vector-borne diseases is presented to investigate the interactions between crops, vectors, and virus. The main illustrative example is the cassava mosaic disease (CMD). The CMD virus has two routes of infection: through vectors and also through infected crops.

Hemagglutination with Newcastle Disease Virus (NDV)

open access: yesExperimental Biology and Medicine, 1947
SummaryHemagglutination by Newcastle disease virus (NDV) is markedly affected by temperature. At room temperature the reaction is difficult to read, especially with low dilutions of virus. At 4°C the reaction is easily read and titration end-points are readily determined. At 4°C NDV appears to be adsorbed more completely by and to elute less rapidly ...
