Niche definition and guidance for detailed niche evaluation [PDF]

open access: yesActa Obstetricia et Gynecologica Scandinavica, 2019
With interest we read the correspondence of Bamberg et al.1 and Scioscia et al.2 about the randomized controlled trial of the first authors concerning the uterine niche after caesarean section (CS).3 They state that at the time of the trial it was not established which technique should be used in the evaluation of a caesarean scar or niche in daily ...

Diversity and complexity in neural organoids

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Neural organoid research aims to expand genetic diversity on one side and increase tissue complexity on the other. Chimeroids integrate multiple donor genomes within single organoids. Self‐organising multi‐identity organoids, exogenous cell seeding, or enforced assembly of region‐specific organoids contribute to tissue complexity.

Engineering of Eu dopant segregation in colquiriite-type fluoride single crystal scintillators

open access: yesAIP Advances, 2017
Colquiriite-type Eu-doped LiCaAlF6 and LiSrAlF6 (Eu:LiCAF and Eu:LiSAF) scintillator single crystals were grown using Al metal as a starting material to improve the Eu dopant segregation.

KAI1(CD82) is a key molecule to control angiogenesis and switch angiogenic milieu to quiescent state

open access: yesJournal of Hematology & Oncology, 2021
Background Little is known about endogenous inhibitors of angiogenic growth factors. In this study, we identified a novel endogenous anti-angiogenic factor expressed in pericytes and clarified its underlying mechanism and clinical significance.

Linking neurogenesis, oligodendrogenesis, and myelination defects to neurodevelopmental disruption in primary mitochondrial disorders

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Mitochondrial remodeling shapes neural and glial lineage progression by matching metabolic supply with demand. Elevated OXPHOS supports differentiation and myelin formation, while myelin compaction lowers mitochondrial dependence, revealing mitochondria as key drivers of developmental energy adaptation.

Isotopic niche variability in macroconsumers of the East Scotia Ridge (Southern Ocean) hydrothermal vents: What more can we learn from an ellipse? [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Aspects of between-individual trophic niche width can be explored through the isotopic niche concept. In many cases isotopic variability can be influenced by the scale of sampling and biological characteristics including body size or sex.

Isotopic niche is not equal to trophic niche

open access: yesEcology Letters, 2019
AbstractThe work of Sheppard et al. (Ecol. Lett., 21, 2018, 1395) relies on the strong assumption that isotopic niche is equal to trophic niche. Here I raise three main concerns showing that classic hypotheses built upon trophic niche cannot be directly interpreted in isotopic space.

The human gut microbiome across the life course

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Despite significant individual variation and continuous change throughout life, the human gut microbiome follows some life stage‐specific trends. This article provides a brief overview of how gut microbiome composition shifts across different phases of life. Created in BioRender. Özkurt, E. (2026) https://BioRender.com/8q4nrnc.
