Interaction of Dorsal Hippocampal Nicotinic Receptors and Zinc Oxide Nanoparticles on Memory Consolidation [PDF]
Background: Zinc oxide nanoparticles (ZnO NPs) are widely used in industry, medicine, and agriculture. Previous studies have shown that exposure to ZnO NPs can induce changes in learning and memory.

Venomous secretions from marine snails of the Terebridae family target acetylcholine receptors [PDF]
Venoms from cone snails (Conidae) have been extensively studied during the last decades, but those from other members of the suborder Toxoglossa, such as of Terebridae and Turridae superfamilies attracted less interest so far. Here, we report the effects

Simultaneous Comparison of Nicotinic Receptor Antagonists on Three Nicotinic Acetylcholine Receptors
AbstractThe relative potencies of several nicotinic cholinoceptor antagonists in producing tetanic fade and reduction of striated muscle contraction were investigated in the isolated guinea-pig oesophagus as well as the guinea-pig and rat phrenic nerve-diaphragm preparations.

Hydroxycarboxylic Acid Receptor 2 Mediates β‐hydroxybutyrate's Antiseizure Effect in Mice
A Objective The ketogenic diet, a high‐fat, low‐carbohydrate regimen, is often used to treat drug‐resistant seizures and is being studied for Alzheimer's disease and other neuropsychiatric disorders. However, its mechanism of action remains unclear. β‐hydroxybutyrate, a primary circulating ketone body produced by the ketogenic diet, may mediate its ...

Neuronal Nicotinic Acetylcholine Receptor Modulators from Cone Snails
Marine cone snails are a large family of gastropods that have evolved highly potent venoms for predation and defense. The cone snail venom has exceptional molecular diversity in neuropharmacologically active compounds, targeting a range of receptors, ion

Nicotinic Receptor Antagonists as Treatments for Nicotine Abuse [PDF]
Despite the proven efficacy of current pharmacotherapies for tobacco dependence, relapse rates continue to be high, indicating that novel medications are needed. Currently, several smoking cessation agents are available, including varenicline (Chantix®), bupropion (Zyban®), and cytisine (Tabex®).

Dietary RSO supplementation improved growth performance, simultaneously enriched n‐3 polyunsaturated fatty acids (n‐3 PUFA), and enhanced antioxidant capacity in Pekin ducks, which suggested that RSO has the potential to be a novel n‐3 PUFA source and an antioxidant for Pekin ducks to generate animal functional foods.
