eNOS transfection of adipose-derived stem cells yields bioactive nitric oxide production and improved results in vascular tissue engineering. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
This study evaluates the durability of a novel tissue engineered blood vessel (TEBV) created by seeding a natural vascular tissue scaffold (decellularized human saphenous vein allograft) with autologous adipose-derived stem cells (ASC) differentiated ...

Leveraging Macrophage Metabolic Reprogramming for Enhanced Anti‐Tumor Immunity

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Tumor‐associated macrophages (TAMs) are key regulators of the tumor microenvironment (TME), with their metabolic states playing a critical role in tumor progression or regression. This review summarizes current understanding of TAM metabolic plasticity alongside cutting‐edge bioengineering innovations, outlining a roadmap for transforming the ...

Is there a relationship between endothelial nitric oxide synthase gene polymorphisms and ankylosing spondylitis?

open access: yesClinics, 2013
OBJECTIVE: Nitric oxide is produced by endothelial nitric oxide synthase, and its production can be influenced by polymorphisms of the endothelial nitric oxide synthase gene.

Investigations into potential extrasynaptic communication between the dopaminergic and nitrergic systems

open access: yesFrontiers in Physiology, 2012
Nitric oxide is unconstrained by cell membranes and can therefore act along a broad distance as a volume transmitter. Spillover of nitric oxide between neurons may have a major impact on central nervous system diseases and particularly on ...

Cascade‐Responsive MXene@Cu‐MOF Heterostructure Integrates Antioxidant Activity, Infection Control, and Vascularization for Tracheal Repair

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A cascade‐responsive MXene@Cu‐MOF/GelMA hydrogel is engineered as a “skeleton–backpack” platform for extensive tracheal repair. The MXene framework scavenges postoperative ROS and converts NIR light into mild hyperthermia, while the Cu‐MOF component provides pH/NIR‐responsive Cu2+ dosing for infection control, angiogenesis, and chondrogenesis.

Neuronal and inducible nitric oxide synthase upregulation in the rat medial prefrontal cortex following acute restraint stress: A dataset

open access: yesData in Brief, 2016
This data article provides additional evidence on gene expression changes in the neuronal and inducible isoforms of nitric oxide synthase in the medial prefrontal cortex following acute stress.

Blocked dihydropteridines as nitric oxide synthase activators [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
It has been shown that 6-acetyl-7,7-dimethyl-5,6,7,8-tetrahydropteridin-4(3H)-one can act as a competent cofactor for the production of nitric oxide by neuronal nitric oxide synthase (nNOS).

The influence of nitric oxide on perigeniculate GABAergic cell activity in the anaesthetized cat [PDF]

open access: yes, 1996
[Abstract] We have tested the effect of iontophoretic application of the nitric oxide synthase inhibitor l-nitroarginine on the activity of a population of 53 perigeniculate (PGN) cells, recorded extracellularly in the anaesthetized paralysed cat. In all

Tumor‐Derived Exosomes Deliver Membrane‐Bound Fgl2 to Activate FcγRIIB‐Mediated Immunosuppression in Myeloid‐Derived Suppressor Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study reveals that the Fgl2‐FcγRIIB signaling axis is a key mechanism by which MDSCs mediate tumor immune evasion. Tumor‐derived exosomes systemically activate MDSCs via this pathway, positioning this axis as a promising broad‐spectrum target for cancer immunotherapy.

Interaction between cholinergic and nitrergic vasodilation: a novel mechanism of blood pressure control [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Objective: Cholinergic vasodilation has been thought to play little if any role in the regulation of blood pressure in humans. Autonomic denervation potentiates the vasoconstriction evoked by nitric oxide synthase inhibition in humans, but the mechanism ...
