Nitrification Inhibitors: Classes and Its Use in Nitrification Management
2014The explosive expansion of human activity during the last two centuries through industrial and agricultural pursuits has resulted in massive changes in the nitrogen (N) cycle of the planet. Based on the projected population growth and food demand, the N-fertilizer inputs into agricultural systems need to be doubled in the near future which would lead ...

Nitrification Inhibitor Influences on Potato
Agronomy Journal, 1993AbstractNitrification inhibitors may reduce loss of fertilizer N from the root zone by reducing leaching and denitrification. This reduced N loss should be reflected in increased crop yields. These studies were conducted to determine if potato yield, specific gravity, or leaf N at flowering would be increased by use of nitrification inhibitors ...

Current knowledge on urease and nitrification inhibitors technology and their safety
Reviews on Environmental Health, 2020Objective Urea is one of the most widely used commercial fertilisers worldwide due to its high N density and cost effectiveness. However, it can be lost in the form of gaseous ammonia and other greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions which can potentially lead to

Performance of nitrification inhibitors with different nitrogen fertilizers and soil textures
Journal of Plant Nutrition And Soil Science/Zeitschrift für Pflanzenernahrung und Bodenkunde, 2019Nitrification inhibitors (NIs), DCD (dicyandiamide), and DMPP (3,4‐dimethylpyrazole phosphate), in combination with urea (UR) and ammonium sulfate nitrate (ASN) fertilizers were studied under contrasting soil textures (sand, loam, and clay) from ...

Schiff Bases as Potential Fungicides and Nitrification Inhibitors
Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry, 2009A number of substituted Schiff bases were synthesized and characterized by (1)H NMR and mass spectrometry. These compounds were screened for antifungal activity in vitro against pathogenic fungi, namely, Sclerotium rolfsii and Rhizoctonia bataticola, and for their effect on nitrification inhibition under laboratory conditions.

[Regulation of soil nitrification with nitrification inhibitors and related mechanisms].
Ying yong sheng tai xue bao = The journal of applied ecology, 2008To improve the use efficiency of fertilizer N while alleviate its pollution is one of the keys in ensuring the high yield and good quality of agricultural products and the sustainable development of agriculture and environment, for which, applying nitrification inhibitors to retard the course of soil nitrification is an efficient measure.

A microbial sensor for detecting inhibitors of nitrification in wastewater
Biosensors and Bioelectronics, 1998A biosensor for rapid and reproducible measurements of inhibitors of nitrification in environmental samples has been developed. The biosensor is mainly designed to be used for wastewater control and consists of a Clark oxygen probe as a transducer and an immobilised mixed nitrifying culture as the microbial component.

Modes of action of nitrification inhibitors
Biology and Fertility of Soils, 1999In recent years, substantial progress has been made towards understanding the modes of action for the specific inhibition of autotrophic NH3 oxidation. This has included demonstrating that NH3 monooxygenase (AMO) has a broad substrate range for catalytic oxidation, and the inhibitory effects of many compounds are due to competition for the active site.
