Interfacing B‐DNA and DNA Mimic Foldamers

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie International Edition, EarlyView.
Helical aromatic oligoamide DNA mimic foldamers that reproduce the shape and charge distribution of duplex B‐DNA have been interfaced with DNA duplexes by means of a new linker that serves both as a DNA hairpin and as an aromatic oligoamide unit. In the resulting chimeric molecules, the linker does not perturb the DNA duplex structure and converts the ...

An Update: Enzymatic Synthesis for Industrial Applications

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie International Edition, EarlyView.
Biocatalysis has become a sustainable and cost‐competitive alternative to established chemical synthesis, enabling the enzyme‐based production of not only commodity chemicals but (non‐natural) amino acids, (rare) sugars, as well as synthetic nucleotides.

Reactivity of Pnictaalumenes Towards 1,3‐Dipole Molecules

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie International Edition, EarlyView.
Pnictaalumenes with a Pn═Al multiple bonds undergo azide or diazoalkene insertions rather than [3+2] cycloadditions. This results in AlN2P heterocycles, which show a great structural variety depending on the sterics of the azide. With TMS‐diazoalkane, thermal rearrangements afford rare cyanidoaluminates. Abstract Alkynes undergo 1,3‐dipolar cyclization
