Oxidation of Nitrite by Peroxynitrous Acid
The Journal of Physical Chemistry A, 2003The kinetics of the oxidation of nitrite to nitrate by peroxynitrous acid at pH 5.2 is best described by the rate law kobs = kiso + k‘[NO2-] + k‘ ‘[NO2-]2, in which the peroxynitrous acid isomerization rate constant kiso = (1.10 ± 0.05) s-1, k‘ = (3.2 ± 0.1) M-1 s-1, and k‘ ‘ = (4.2 ± 0.3) M-2s-1, at 25 °C.

Photo-Oxidation of Nitrite to Nitrate
Nature, 1934THERE is considerable difference of opinion regarding the possibility of the oxidation of nitrites by oxygen to nitrates. Berzelius reported that when aqueous solutions of alkali nitrites are boiled in air, they absorb oxygen with the formation of nitrates. G. Lunge and E. Fremy, J.
