Purification and characterization of ATPase fromNitrobacter winogradskyi [PDF]

open access: yesFEMS Microbiology Letters, 1991
An ATPase was purified from Nitrobacter winogradskyi, and some of its molecular and enzymatic properties were determined. The enzyme was composed of two subunits of 64 and 59 kDa, respectively. The enzyme had its pH optimum at 9.5 and showed a specific activity of 7 units per mg protein.

Effect of Dietary Protein Levels on Growth, Body Composition, and Haematology of Tilapia in Biofloc Without Solid Management System

open access: yesAquaculture, Fish and Fisheries, Volume 5, Issue 1, February 2025.
ABSTRACT This study investigated the effects of varying dietary protein levels on the performance of tilapia reared in biofloc culture system without solid management. Five experimental diets containing crude protein (CP) levels of 32, 28, 24, 20, and 16% were tested in a completely randomized design in triplicate.

A relation between the temperature of atmosphere and the sludge in the wastewater treatment aeration tank [PDF]

open access: yesActa Montanistica Slovaca, 2006
Processes in the aeration tank remove nitrogen from organic substances from wastewater by using bacteria. Nitrification utilizes the metabolism of aerobic bacteria Nitrosomonas, Nitrococus, Nitrospira, Nitrobacter Nitrocystis and Nitrosobolus and the ...

tRNA signatures reveal polyphyletic origins of streamlined SAR11 genomes among the alphaproteobacteria [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Phylogenomic analyses are subject to bias from compositional convergence and noise from horizontal gene transfer (HGT). Compositional convergence is a likely cause of controversy regarding phylogeny of the SAR11 group of Alphaproteobacteria that have ...

Relationship of Atmospheric Nitrogen Deposition to Soil Nitrogen Cycling Along an Elevation Gradient in the Colorado Front Range

open access: yesEarth's Future, Volume 13, Issue 1, January 2025.
Abstract Microbial processing of atmospheric nitrogen (N) deposition regulates the retention and mobilization of N in soils, with important implications for water quality. Understanding the links between N deposition, microbial communities, N transformations, and water quality is critical as N deposition shifts toward reduced N and remains persistently

Current Status of the Propagation of Basil in Aquaponic Systems: A Literature Review

open access: yesAquaculture Research, Volume 2025, Issue 1, 2025.
Basil (Ocimum sp.) is a commercially important herb that has been coupled with several aquatic organisms in aquaponic systems. The goal of this literature review was to aggregate the current knowledge on the status of basil production in aquaponic systems by identifying the different aquatic organisms cultured with basil and hydroponic subsystems ...

Impact of Commercial Probiotics on Growth, Prophenoloxidase, Superoxide Dismutase, and Digestive Enzyme Activity in Macrobrachium rosenbergii Cultured at Different Stocking Densities

open access: yesAquaculture Research, Volume 2025, Issue 1, 2025.
An experiment using a 4 × 3 factorial design was conducted to evaluate the impact of three commercial probiotics and a control (no probiotic treatment) on the growth, digestive, and immune enzymatic indices of prawns (Macrobrachium rosenbergii) at three stocking densities (2, 4, and 6 m−2).
