Exposure Assessment of Nitrofuran Metabolites in Fish and Honey Produced in Armenia: A Pilot Investigation [PDF]

open access: yesFoods, 2023
In Armenia, the presence of nitrofuran residues in food products is unacceptable for both domestic sales and export. However, food may contain nitrofuran metabolites (NMs) due to the illegal use of these drugs in the agrofarming practice.

New method of analysis of nitrofurans and nitrofuran metabolites in different biological matrices using UHPLC-MS/MS [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Veterinary Research, 2018
The major difficulty in analysis of nitrofurans in feed, feed water, and food of animal origin is that nitrofurans have low molecular weights and fast metabolism.

Quantum Dot Nanobeads as Multicolor Labels for Simultaneous Multiplex Immunochromatographic Detection of Four Nitrofuran Metabolites in Aquatic Products [PDF]

open access: yesMolecules, 2022
A multicolor immunochromatographic assay platform based on quantum dot nanobeads (QBs) for the rapid and simultaneous detection of nitrofuran metabolites in different aquatic products is documented. These metabolites include 3-amino-2-oxazolidinone (AOZ),

Scientific Opinion on nitrofurans and their metabolites in food [PDF]

open access: yesEFSA Journal, 2015
Nitrofurans are antimicrobial agents not authorised for use in food‐producing animals in the European Union. Nitrofurans are rapidly metabolised, occurring in animal tissues as protein‐bound metabolites.

Development and Validation of a LC-MS/MS Method for the Determination of Nitrofuran Metabolites in Soft-Shell Turtle Powder Health Food Supplement [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Analytical Chemistry, 2021
Soft-shell turtle (SST; freshwater terrapin or tortoise) is a popular and important health functional food (HFF) product in many Asian countries. HFFs containing SST must be safe, but several HFFs have been found to be contaminated with dangerous ...

Immunosensor of Nitrofuran Antibiotics and Their Metabolites in Animal-Derived Foods: A Review [PDF]

open access: yesFrontiers in Chemistry, 2022
Nitrofuran antibiotics have been widely used in the prevention and treatment of animal diseases due to the bactericidal effect. However, the residual and accumulation of their metabolites in vivo can pose serious health hazards to both humans and animals.

Presence of nitrofurans and their metabolites in gelatine [PDF]

open access: yesEFSA Journal, 2021
Following the detection of semicarbazide (SEM) in gelatine by Italian Authorities, at levels exceeding by three times the reference point for action (RPA) of 1 μg/kg, set out by Commission Regulation (EU) 2019/1871 for nitrofurans and their metabolites ...

Hydrophobic carboxymethyl cellulose as a clean-up sorbent in the determination of nitrofuran metabolites in animal-fat samples. [PDF]

open access: yesRSC Adv, 2023
Hydrophobic-CMC biopolymers were fabricated for the removal of fat from food sample matrices. The CMCs were synthesized via the esterification of CMC with three alcohols with carbon chains of different lengths, in the presence of sulfuric acid.

Occurrence and levels of nitrofuran metabolites in sea cucumber from Dalian, China

open access: yesFood Additives and Contaminants - Part A Chemistry, Analysis, Control, Exposure and Risk Assessment, 2016
The occurrence and levels of nitrofuran metabolites (NFMs) in sea cucumber (SC) from Dalian, China, are reported. Four metabolites including 3-amino-5-morpholinomethyl-2-oxazolidinone (AMOZ), 3-amino-2-oxazolidinone (AOZ), semicarbazide (SEM) and 1-aminohydantoin (AHD) in different SC products (fresh, instant and dry salted SCs) were measured.
