NITROFURAZONE DERMATITIS FOLLOWING COITUS

Journal of the American Medical Association, 1954
Since the introduction of nitrofuran, derivatives as bacteriostatic agents, many cases of cutaneous sensitivity reactions to this group of drugs have been reported in the literature. Nitrofurazone (Furacin [5-nitro-2-furaldehyde semicarbazone]) is one member of this group that has been widely used during the last few years.

Spectrophotometric Determination of Nitrofurazone

Analytical Letters, 1986
Abstract A new sensitive and seleactive method for rapid and accurated determination of nitrofarazone is described. The nitrofurazone is reacted with hydroxyl-amine hydrochloride in alkaline medium to give hydroxamic acid which forms the purple violet coloured complex with iron (III), FeCl3, in acidic medium.

DERMATITIS FOLLOWING THE USE OF NITROFURAZONE

Archives of Dermatology, 1948
A new group of bacteriostatic agents, the nitrofurans, of which 5-nitro-2-furaldehyde semicarbazone 1 is an example, has been found effective in the treatment of infected wounds. 2 To our knowledge, no examples of cutaneous sensitization to this particular group of drugs have been reported.
