A synthetic benzoxazine dimer derivative targets c‐Myc to inhibit colorectal cancer progression

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Benzoxazine dimer derivatives bind to the bHLH‐LZ region of c‐Myc, disrupting c‐Myc/MAX complexes, which are evaluated from SAR analysis. This increases ubiquitination and reduces cellular c‐Myc. Impairing DNA repair mechanisms is shown through proteomic analysis.

Evaluation of 10 Edamame Breeding Lines to Determine Yield, Agronomic, and Seed Composition Traits

open access: yesHortScience
Edamame is a vegetable soybean (Glycine max) that is harvested at the R6 growth stage. Although it is relatively new to America, the acreage and market demand of edamame have steadily increased.

Boron and nitrogen impurities in SiC nanoribbons: an ab initio investigation

open access: yes, 2011
Using ab initio calculations based on density-functional theory we have performed a theoretical investigation of substitutional boron and nitrogen impurities in silicon carbide (SiC) nanoribbons.

Adaptaquin is selectively toxic to glioma stem cells through disruption of iron and cholesterol metabolism

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Adaptaquin selectively kills glioma stem cells while sparing differentiated brain cells. Transcriptomic and proteomic analyses show Adaptaquin disrupts iron and cholesterol homeostasis, with iron chelation amplifying cytotoxicity via cholesterol depletion, mitochondrial dysfunction, and elevated reactive oxygen species.

Enhanced Potassium-Ion Storage of the 3D Carbon Superstructure by Manipulating the Nitrogen-Doped Species and Morphology

open access: yesNano-Micro Letters, 2020
An eco-efficient synthetic route was developed to establish carbon superstructures with enhanced exposed nitrogen-rich active facets. The synergistic effect of the 3D interconnected superstructures and the high nitrogen-doping content endows the N-rich ...

Modelling effects of acid deposition and climate change on soil and run-off chemistry at Risdalsheia, Norway [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
Elevated carbon dioxide levels, caused by anthropogenic emissions of carbon dioxide to the atmosphere, and higher temperature may lead to increased plant growth and uptake to nitrogen, but increased temperature may lead to increased nitrogen ...

Ionized Nitrogen Mono-hydride Bands are Identified in the Pre-solar and Carbonado Diamond Spectra

open access: yes, 2011
None of the well established Nitrogen related IR absorption bands, common in synthetic and terrestrial diamonds, have been identified in the pre-solar diamond spectra.

Patient‐specific pharmacogenomics demonstrates xCT as predictive therapeutic target in colon cancer with possible implications in tumor connectivity

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study integrates transcriptomic profiling of matched tumor and healthy tissues from 32 colorectal cancer patients with functional validation in patient‐derived organoids, revealing dysregulated metabolic programs driven by overexpressed xCT (SLC7A11) and SLC3A2, identifying an oncogenic cystine/glutamate transporter signature linked to ...

Enhanced sustainable green revolution yield via nitrogen-responsive chromatin modulation in rice

open access: yesScience, 2020
Decoupling tillering and fertilization For rice as an agricultural crop, more tillers, or branches that carry grains, are desired, as is less demand for nitrogen fertilization.

Total Nitrogen Concentrations in Wastewater Treatment Plant Effluent in the Great Bay Estuary Watershed in 2008 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Nitrogen enrichment is a growing concern for the Great Bay Estuary. For the 2006 State of the Estuaries report (NHEP, 2006), the NHEP calculated the nitrogen load from wastewater treatment facilities (WWTF) using data on total dissolved nitrogen in WWTF ...
