Dietary fibre and nitrogen excretion and retention by pigs

open access: yes, 1988
Groups of 3 castrated male pigs (45-50 kg), housed in metabolism crates, were offered basal diets alone or with increasing levels of addition of straw, oatfeed or sugar-beet pulp.

Embedded Direct Ink Writing of Thermoset and Elastomeric Polymers via Frontal Polymerization

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Embedded frontal polymerization direct ink writing (FP‐DIW) combines frontal ring‐opening metathesis polymerization with embedded 3D printing to decouple deposition from curing. A yield‐stress support bath stabilizes low‐viscosity inks, while on‐demand thermal initiation enables controlled front propagation. This approach expands the accessible feature

Self‐Assembled Hybrid Cell‐Enzyme Materials for Gas‐Powered Biocatalysis

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Integrating living cells with programmable enzyme networks enables hybrid materials that convert gaseous feedstocks into chemical reducing power. These gas‐powered catalytic beads operate as modular, recyclable platforms for adaptive biocatalysis and sustainable synthesis.

Urea in sugarcane-based diets for dairy cows

open access: yesRevista Brasileira de Zootecnia, 2013
We evaluated the effect of adding four levels (0, 4, 8 and 12 g/kg, as fed) of a mixture (9:1) of urea and ammonium sulfate (UAs) to sugarcane on feed intake and digestibility, productive performance and metabolism of nitrogen compounds of dairy cows ...

Effects of dietary SID lysine content on growth performance, feeding costs, and nitrogen excretion of growing and finishing pigs

open access: yesItalian Journal of Animal Science
This study evaluated the effects of different SID lysine levels on growth performance, feed costs, and nitrogen excretion of growing pigs raised for dry-cured ham production. Ninety-six Goland-C21 × Camborough-43 pigs (initial body weight, BW: 44.5 ± 3.8

Confinement in Metal‐Organic Frameworks as a Route to Harnessing Liquid Barocalorics in the Solid‐State

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Encapsulation of solid–liquid barocalorics (BC) within MOFs harnesses their colossal BC performance whilst allowing active control of BC properties through BC‐MOF interactions. ABSTRACT Barocaloric (BC) effects at liquid–vapor transitions in hydrofluorocarbons drive most commercial technologies used for heating and cooling in the heating, ventilation ...

Designing Vanadium‐Based Oxide Electrocatalysts for Water Splitting: Experimental and Mechanistic Insights with Machine Learning

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This review establishes structure‐property‐mechanism relationships across six modification strategies for V‐based oxide water‐splitting electrocatalysts: lattice engineering, heteroatom doping, interface engineering, carbon‐based hybridization, morphology engineering, and surface reconstruction and pre‐catalyst design, where dissolution is reframed as ...

Two compartment lung model incorporating nitrogen excretion.

open access: yes, 2013
There are two alveolar compartments, A1 and A2, with volumes VA1 and VA2 respectively. The proportion of the ventilation and blood flow received by A2 are defined as X and Y respectively.

Upcycling Keratin‐Based Textile Waste Into High‐Performance Hybrid Fibers Via Tuning the Interfacial Interactions

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Keratin recovered from animal‐hair textile waste is fractionated and blended with cellulose to produce continuously spun hybrid fibers. Selecting the high‐molecular‐weight keratin fraction enables 30 wt.% keratin incorporation while maintaining high strength in dry and wet states.
