Changes in the body chemical composition and the excretion of nitrogen and phosphorus during long-term starvation of Antarctic fish Notothenia coriiceps and Notothenia rossii

open access: yesThe European Zoological Journal, 2020
This study examined the effect- of starvation on the chemical composition (total protein, crude fat, dry matter, ash) and the excretion of nitrogen (N) and phosphorus (P) of the Antarctic fish Notothenia coriiceps and Notothenia rossii.

Ingestion and excretion of nitrogen and phosphorus by beef cattle under contrasting grazing intensities

open access: yes, 2011
There is increased global interest in the environmental impacts of farming, including the need to prevent the contamination of soil, water and air with excessive amounts of nitrogen (N) and phosphorus (P) in grazed systems. Reduction in grazing intensity

Cyclic azapeptide CD36 ligand attenuates cardiac injury and reduces long‐chain fatty acid accumulation after myocardial ischemia–reperfusion in mice

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
In a murine model of myocardial ischemia and reperfusion (MI/R), the CD36 azapeptide ligand MPE‐298 reduces cardiac injury and transiently lowers left ventricular long‐chain fatty acids (LCFAs) accumulation 3 h after reperfusion, accompanied by a decrease of oxidative stress and inflammation‐associated genes' expression in the heart and adipose tissue.

Effects of supplemental phytase on nutrient excretion and retention in broilers fed different cereal based diets

open access: yesCzech Journal of Animal Science, 2005
A 21-day experiment with day-old broilers was conducted in order to assess the effect of phytase supplementation to different cereals-soybean meal based diets on nitrogen, calcium, total and phytate phosphorus excretion and retention.

Urinary porphyrin excretion in hepatitis C infection [PDF]

open access: yes, 1999
A high prevalence of hepatitis C virus infection in porphyria cutanea tarda in some populations suggests a close link between viral hepatitis and alteration of porphyrin metabolism.

The crystal structure of the Borrelia burgdorferi nicotinamidase BBE22 resolves a long‐standing annotation error

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The crystal structure of Borrelia burgdorferi nicotinamidase (PncA/BBE22) reveals the correct full‐length protein initiated from a non‐canonical AUU start codon. The structure validates previous biochemical findings and resolves a long‐standing annotation error, demonstrating that the truncated database sequence is structurally incompatible with the ...

Protein levels and environmental temperature effects on carcass characteristics, performance, and nitrogen excretion of broiler chickens from 7 to 21 days of age

open access: yesBrazilian Journal of Poultry Science, 2005
This trial was conducted to evaluate the utilization of low-protein diets formulated based on the ideal protein concept for broiler chickens from 7 to 21 days of age reared at different environmental temperatures.

Effect of adrenaline on nitrogen excretion in normal rats

open access: yes, 1960
The effect of adrenaline on the urinary excretion of total nitrogen, creatinine and purine metabolites was studied in normal male rats. It was found that adrenaline produces a significant increase in purine metabolites in urine and a marked increase in ...

Importin 7 mediates the nuclear import of HIV‐1 integrase via a specific interacting interface

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
HIV‐1 integrase enables viral DNA integration into the host genome. By binding to the core domain of the host protein Importin 7 via its C‐terminal domain, the integrase is transported across the nuclear membrane into the nucleus, where integration of the viral genome into host DNA takes place. This translocation is a critical step for subsequent viral
