Studies on the Formation of Nitrosamines (VII)
The reaction products of glycocyamine, one of the naturally occurring guanidines, and nitrite under acidic conditions were explored. The main product was identified as carboxymethylnitrosourea, a derivative of hydantoic acid whose secondary amino group was nitrosated, by elemental analysis and NMR spectrum.

Microbial degradation of nitrosamines. I. Inducible breakdown of nitrosamines.
In order to investigate the microbial degradation of nitrosamines, the degrading activity of three strains of non-pathogenic microorganisms, i. e., Rhizopus oryzae, Streptococcus cremoris, and Sccaromyces rouxii was examined. These microorganism, were active in degrading NDMA, NDEA, NDPA, NPYR, and NPIP, NDPA bejng degraded more rapidly than the other ...

In recent years, mutagenic nitrosamines, such as N-nitrosodimethylamine, have been detected in medicine. This has led to global product recalls and long-term supply suspensions by pharmaceutical companies and consequent clinical impacts.
