Structural complexity of hard substrates shapes shallow marine benthic communities
Structurally complex habitats offer niche diversity, with varying biotic and abiotic conditions, generally leading to higher biodiversity compared to simpler habitats. However, our understanding of the response of ecological communities to increased complexity and the underlying drivers remain ambiguous due to discrepancies in how complexity is ...

Abstract Longer‐term perspectives—equivalent to the lifespans of long‐lived trees—are required to fully inform perceptions of ‘naturalness’ used in woodland conservation and management. Stand‐scale dynamics of an old growth temperate woodland are reconstructed using palaeoecological data.

Amphiphilic block‐copolymers were obtained from radical ring‐opening polymerization (RROP) of 2‐methylene‐1,3,6‐trioxocane (MTC) and 2‐methylene‐1,3‐dioxepane (MDO). Targeted variations in the MTC/MDO ratio resulted in copolymers with distinct properties.

The Actin‐Binding Prolyl‐Isomerase Par17 Sustains Its Substrate Selectivity by Interdomain Allostery
ABSTRACT The human peptidyl‐prolyl‐cis/trans isomerases (PPIases), Parvulin 14 and Parvulin 17, accelerate the cis/trans isomerization of Xaa‐Pro moieties within protein sequences. By modulating the respective binding interfaces of their target proteins, they play a crucial role in determining the fate of their substrates within the cell. Although both
