Broad-specificity ELISA with a heterogeneous strategy for sensitive detection of microcystins and nodularin.

Toxicon, 2020
A highly sensitive and broadly specific competitive indirect enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ciELISA) method was developed for the simultaneous detection of nine microcystins (MCs) and nodularin (NOD) using MC-LR-keyhole limpet hemocyanin (KLH) for ...

Deposit-feeders accumulate the cyanobacterial toxin nodularin

Harmful Algae, 2011
Animals living in marine sediments (the second largest habitat on earth) play a major role in global biogeochemical cycling. By feeding on organic matter from settled phytoplankton blooms they produce food for higher trophic levels and nutrients that can fuel primary production.

Comprehensive insights into the occurrence and toxicological issues of nodularins

Marine Pollution Bulletin, 2021
The occurrence of cyanobacterial toxins is being increasingly reported. Nodularins (NODs) are one of the cyanotoxins group mainly produced by Nodularia spumigena throughout the world. NODs may exert adverse effects on animal and human health, and NOD-R variant is the most widely investigated. However, research focused on them is still limited. In order

Drug Designing and Molecular Dynamics Identifies Cyanobacterial Nodularin-R as the Candidate Molecule Against SARS‒CoV‒2 Main Protease (Mpro)

Journal of Environmental Science and Agricultural Research
The COVID-19 pandemic, caused by SARS-CoV-2, is a significant public health challenge. One approach to combat this virus is to develop antiviral drugs from natural products, such as those produced by cyanobacteria.

New Nodularins: A General Method for Structure Assignment

The Journal of Organic Chemistry, 1994
A general method has been developed for assigning the structures of nodularin, a potent hepatotoxin, tumor promoter, and protein phosphatase inhibitor, and minor components isolated from a cultured and a bloom sample of the cyanobacterium Nodularia spumigena.

Occurrence of Nodularin in South African Waters by High-Performance Liquid Chromatography.

Toxicon
Nodularins are hepatotoxic cyclic pentapeptides produced by the cyanobacterium Nodularia spumigena, which is frequently associated with harmful algal blooms in brackish and freshwater environments.

Hydrolysis of microcystins and nodularin by microwave radiation

Chromatographia, 1999
Microwave radiation has been successfully used for hydrolysis of the hepatotoxic cyclic peptides microcystins and nodularin. Set-up of the microwave device and the operating conditions for microwave hydrolysis were optimized. Results of the microwave hydrolysis were compared with results from conventional hydrolysis for 24 h at 110°C.

A Visible-Light-Driven Self-Powered Nodularin-R Biosensing Platform Controlled by an Integrated Portable Photoelectrochemical Detection Device.

Analytical Chemistry
The presence of nodularin-R (NOD-R) in water has gained considerable attention because of its widespread distribution and high toxicity. In this study, an accurate and rapid visible-light-driven self-powered photoelectrochemical (PEC) biosensor was ...

Synthesis of metal-organic framework-5@chitosan material for the analysis of microcystins and nodularin based on ultra-performance liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry.

Journal of Chromatography A, 2020
Microcystins (MCs) and nodularin (NOD) are tumor promoters produced by cyanobacteria and present in surface water. In this work, a novel mesoporous metal-organic framework-5@chitosan (MOF-5@CS) material was synthesized and applied for the enrichment of ...
